    on it!

hell yeah!!!! good luck and I hope it lands!

    Thank you sir!

They are not. Most are being ai screened and all have some type of key word filter going through. As a hiring manager by trade, I see less than 10% of all resumes submitted. The company I am interviewing with has 60 people working for them. They had over 900 people apply for this role. They spend weeks just going through the screened resumes... no idea how I made it through, but glad I did.

And yes, this is a true "unprecedented time" as much as I hate that term now. i want to live in precedented times for a change.. any... companies are self correcting the major salary increases and remote roles from the covid boom. Plus, they are all jumping in to ai feet first and already making decisions based on projected ROIs that in many cases will not pan out... plus, the tariffs have greatly impacted a lot of orgs budgets and then their is the *redacted* climate that usually ebbs based on *redacted* years... which we are not in so its even more maddening...

Long story short, this is going to hurt for some time until the country rebalances. Shame too because a lot of white color folks are out with a whole lot more to come still. (all redacted words are related to the no no topic)

    Hell yeah!!!!!

Not sure it's the hiring manager totally. They are the ones who want someone skilled in everything, but they very likely don't control the purse strings. "How am I supposed to get someone competent with this budget?" has escaped my lips before. The end result - quoting @gosolo yet again - 'Hiring you was like losing 3 good men'.

This is definitely the problem. Companies want to hire an expert but pay for a novice. And then they have meeting upon meeting to discuss why they have turnover.

edit: see the post above as I'm late in responding.

At my age I can't even imagine looking for another job. If I ever had to, I'd say fuck it and either start dealing drugs or put the wife on the corner and pimp her out.

This whole use of computers to screen resumes is bullshit. My last company was trying to hire someone to a staff position and they literally weren't allowed to interview the contractor they had doing the job at the time because the computer excluded his resume because he wrote it wrong or something.

I will prob need a job when I retire from my current employer to pay for medical and fun money. Was actually joking either way the wife yesterday that all my resume needs to say is “I can be taught, I look people in the eye when talking to them and I am reliable”.

Medical costs can kick your ass. Unfortunately I can attest to this all too well, even with insurance.

I here you. I'm on Medicare/Humana. I recently got a grant that covers all expenses related to my prostate cancer not covered and recently got a $350 check to use as I please.

I wonder if there will be a strong anti AI movement someday, how big it will be, what direction it could go, and what influence it could have. :monocle:

Our retirement insurance is ridiculous right now, roughly $1,500/month for a couple until eligible for Medicare.

I'm trying to stack as much money in my VEBA account that I can. It's invested and my employer throws in $200/ month.

That should bridge the gap for medical costs without pulling from other accounts

I will not get into details, but as a Federal retiree I pay the same monthly as current employees for health ins (there are multiple plans to choose from at varied costs). Last year I itemized over $11,500 in costs between premiums and co-pays. I've already gone well beyond that this year.

Ordered the lat two major components of the PC build, the OS and the CPU cooler. I ordered from microcenter and the package arrived today.

Fuckers sent the wrong CPU cooler.

I ordered a noctua nh-d15 which is a $140 cooler. Top end for air cooling.

    They sent this.

This reminds me, 1. I also hate people, 99.9% of them, and 2. I need a new computer. My current one is fine I only use it for banning people, paying bills, and shopping, but it will not run Windows 11.

If I had to look for a job in today's market, I'd dump the tradional Resume and Cover Letter and just create a resume based on algorithms, binary code, and the Fibonacci sequence...

Pretty sure that would blow up most recruiting software and force some manual interaction
