Hello everyone. I bought my first used 2001 Toyota Tacoma prerunner and kept it around 8 years which I sold about 7 years ago to buy a 2007 Toyota Tacoma double cab sport 4x4 and now have decided to go with my third Toyota but this time I went with the Tundra. Now that I'm camping a lot and pulling a 27 foot travel trailer that weighs 4,400 lb dry it only made sense to go with the tundra. The Tacoma could do it but it was a little concerning in high winds and when semis would pass me on the highway. it just wasn't very safe so I'm happy I made the change to my 2014 Tundra SR5 4x4

Finally got around to lubricating the splines on this drive shaft. I found the grease zerks on the driveline for the four-wheel drive and the rear axle but couldn't find anything on the spline so I dropped the shaft at the pinion flange then removed the carrier bearing bolts. Marked everything with a marker so I could put everything back in alignment. I took the one clamp loose on the boot then everything slid apart, it was pretty much dry. Any grease that was in there was very thick and lost its lubricity. I used a grease with a high Molly content. I was able to rub the grease evenly across the splines on the shaft male and female ends without over lubricating then put everything together. it definitely got rid of the clunk I would hear when I was going from forward to reverse, haven't drove it a lot to see how it's responding with downshifts but I wasn't really having any sounds with that as far as I can remember. I think I've only drove it a couple hundred miles so far.
Pretty soon I'll be tackling the rear bed mount to frame bolt area where there has been some rust building up. It doesn't look like there's any rust that's significant at least underneath at those points where the bolts pass through but definitely looks pretty bad on the top.
