I have complained to my dealership about how my 23 Tundra hesitates when attempting to turn left in an intersection, or turning onto a roadway after coming to a stop….they could never duplicate it. at 25K, the motor seized and I was the first at our dealership to get fixed after the motor recall. they kept the block but replaced everything else…it took them 6 weeks. (now apparently they ship a whole new motor and swap them out).

now i’m 10K into the new motor and it still hesitates and sometimes takes a second to respond to me pushing on the accelerator, as I’m asking for it to move in a hurry. I literally have almost got to a three count before the transmission downshifted in order for me to overtake a slower moving vehicle.

Not sure what to do about it, but Not a fan of this set up.

Sorry to hear that the problem persists.
I, like many others, exhibit the same symptom, but for me it is fairly infrequent, usually after when I inadvertently make a rolling stop.
Btw, what is your build date?
You do know that 2023s with build date prior to March 2023 are part of the safety recall and are to get crate engines.

I just turn off my traction assist. It happens in my TRD PRO.

Interesting. I haven’t tried this one yet. Is it working for you turning it off whenever you slow down to stop then go again? I’ve tried all the other tricks and it still happens at random for me. Not a bad pause but still there.

This issue has been discussed a bunch, here. The problem is there's no rhyme or reason to which trucks are affected. My '23 has never hesitated in nearly 30K miles. Others report it happens very infrequently. And some report it happening a bunch.

Good luck. I hope Toyota can figure out what's causing this random problem.

My 2023 with 12,000 miles does this, mostly when just about stopped and then starting to accelerate (rolling stop). I find I have to be gentle on the accelerator to smooth it out because when it "catches", if I'm deep into the pedal it's a sudden, jerky acceleration.

Is seems like the transmission needs to downshift right at the point of trying to accelerate, but I'm not sure that's the issue. I'm going to try shutting off the traction assist.

I would say, mine does this exact same thing in the same conditions. I'm guilty of rolling stops a lot and found that's when it's the worst. I will say, I tried the idea someone mentioned earlier to turn off traction assist and it seems to be better even when I hit it on the gas pedal more. It's just not ideal having to press the button each time. It'll automatically turn back on when you go over 35mph or so.

I noticed you can turn off TRAC with a quick push of the button, or you can turn off TRAC/VSC/Trailer Sway by pushing and holding the button for more than 3 seconds.

    Have you guys tried both?

I honestly forgot about turning all of it off with holding the button. I've just tried pressing to turn only TRAC off. I'll try the other one soon.

My 23 with 2200 miles on it hesitated once with a slight rolling stop with a left turn into traffic. Scary time. After that it never did it again.

I did try holding the TRAC off button and disabling TRAC/VSC/Trailer Sway to see what that did. I didn't feel any difference for the one time I did it and it was at a rolling stop.

I will say, the truck has been very responsive each time I've used the TRAC off button. I've started doing this as a routine at rolling stops.
