I'm not expert by any means in this topic, but if you are sporting a hybrid model, I wouldn't mess with this. The battery for the hybrids is already a tiny one, and with all the electronics, I wouldn't take any chances. It works based on OEM (all it does is start the truck), I don't see any real world reason to upgrade this.

Talked to also my buddy who is a toyota foreman tech, he said if you need to run aux, always run it on the Ready so all drain is on the hybrid battery, not the starter battery.

I've ran Lithium on my older cars before, but with the finicky of voltage/amps and these hybrid systems, i'm leaving this truck alone.

Replacing the truck's battery with either Li-ion or LiFePO4 is a really bad idea. When lithium gets too much voltage and/or current it can turn into a bomb. It also gets dangerous if the voltage of the battery gets too low. LiFePO4 is safer than Li-ion but still needs a lithium charge profile which is very different than the Lead-Acid charge profile the truck will provide. And... as mentioned before... attempting to charge a Lithium battery when it's below freezing will damage or destroy the battery and the trucks charging system will not turn off in cold weather.

Actually the prices have come down substantially. A 50ah 12v battery for my boat was $750ish a few years ago.

The heater doesn't turn on if it is sitting in the winter. It will only kick on when attempting to charge it.

I was thinking an X2 since Northstar is out... But this Ionic has me intrigued. The guys @ Lithium Hub have them in their cars and trucks and love em. Even a diesel and 6.2 Silverado.

Maybe worth a shot so I got one .
