Regarding the 100,000 motors Toyota is replacing, up to a build date that was early 2023 (maybe Feb, I can't recall), has Toyota officially communicated that they fixed the problem?

I'm wondering if the 100k motors was about all they could do for now, so they picked a date that coincided with their expected replacement plan, with build dates subsequent to Feb 2023 to be dealt with later.

I don't put a lot of miles on my truck and plan to keep it for 15 years (that's how long I had my last truck). My concern is when I get past the 5 year powertrain, that I'm sitting on a ticking time bomb. Not why I bought a Toyota.

It appears there are some engine failures posted with build dates after 2/2023.

This topic has been discussed ad nauseam here.

The bottom line is, Toyota claimed to have fixed the "manufacturing debris" issue by the Feb 2023 end of recall date. That was a lie because engines continued to blow up from the same main bearing failures thru 2024 models, perhaps even a few 2025 models.

If your truck isn't part of the recall, and your engine fails, you will get a bandaid short block repair, instead of a brand new crate engine like the recalled trucks. If you are out of warranty when that happens, you will be looking at a $25-$30K repair bill. I highly recommend you look into an extended warranty before your regular warranty runs out.

If my engine fails, I would trade it right away to the same dealer who fixes it and move on. I would laugh if they tried to lowball the trade on the merits of their own service department's work to repair it. But that's hypothetical and unlikely. First of all, by the time I have 50,000 miles on the powertrain we'll have more clear information regarding the actual potential for engine failure of the '25 model year. By that time I will trade it anyway while it has warranty remaining and good trade equity like I always do. If you are hand wringing with worry over extended warranties and frets about repair bills that have not even happened, you are in over your head and should get out now and drive a Ranger or used S10 or something you can afford to drive without fear of financial catastrophe wrecking your sanity, or stop listening to the quivering milksops here.
