I fell into a killer deal on a heated and powered drivers seat out of a +/- 2021 Tacoma. I figured it was worth swapping in as the stock seat left a lot to be desired. Sorting out the wiring on the truck side was pretty simple. I ordered up a factory seat heater switch off of eBay for 25 bucks. The fuse was already in place, and I had the right relay hanging around to install on the backside at the bottom of the inside fuse block.

On the seat side, the Tacoma seat heaters are wired permanently in parallel, and the Tacoma heating circuit modulates the voltage to the seat heater.

The Tundra wiring switches the circuit between series in parallel. So I had to de-wire and move some things around on the seat heaters in the Tacoma seat. And of course, the plugs weren’t the same so I had to re-Pin to get everything to play nice. But the power for the seat motors was ready to go in the floor harness as well.

I made a couple brackets to offset the seat since the mounting holes don’t line up. And drilled holes to bolt through the floor in the back. Overall, I’m really happy. And they’re probably the hottest seats I’ve ever sat in.

How exactly did you secure the rear bolts for the seat to the floor?

I only ask, because I know a guy who used to go to our minitruck meets when I was in my 20s who went face first thru his windshield after drilling his floor to bolt in his seats. He rear-ended someone at 30mph, rear floor gave way, and the entire seat pitched forward letting his face go thru the window. IIRC, he said he used rivnuts in his case.

OEMs usually reinforce the floor at any spot where a seat will bolt to avoid it. Better/dafer option is to adapt your OEM seat bracket, or swap the donor seat onto your OEM cage.

This is a really cool mod and looks great, so please don't think I'm shitting on it.

The rear holes ended up going through a reinforcing rib in the body, and I also added some flat stock between the two holes. I don’t think it’s going anywhere. Those are 14 mm bolts, holding it in.

Perfect. That's how a lot of the guys manage it on the 67-72 C/K-10 pickups. Distribution should be solid. Good work!
