That dude is cool. I made him an honorary Texas Best Gen.
Since a few didn't like us Texans making honorary first gens.

    Yep.
More proof First Gen is the Best generation! ;)
The new tundra’s are lower than my stock 2000 GMC 4x4 with 10”.
I wouldn’t be able to go out on about 1/3 of roads on our lease in a newer model tundra without spending extra money to have it lifted.

First, and only time I cut through our lease to get home from work in 2018 GMC 4x4 company truck with 9” clearance I almost didn’t make it through because was high centering on some muddy ruts, and thought I was going to rip that darn plastic piece off bumper. Couldn’t go back or turn around. It got some accidental mudding in that day.
I realized real quick it was made for highway, or gravel semi-maintained roads not roads that are basically fire trails. .

I gave my 2005 GMC Canyon 4x4 back to my dad....it's so low it feels more like a car than a truck....especially after driving the Tundra. LOL

I grow hops in my front yard. Friend of mine gave them to me. I stuck them in the ground along a picket fence 4-5 years ago. They keep coming back year after year. Fun to pull the flowers and crush in your hands, it's like inhaling a really kickass IPA.

That and my bay laurel (plant where bay leaves come from) are probably two of my favorite edible/usable plants in our landscape. Although I've been really enjoying the grape vines these last few years.

I only used the hitch because it was dark, and all my lights are back there so I could see what I was doing. If it were light out, I would have used the front bumper for the extra weight up there, and it would have been quicker :fistbump:

UPS just delivered a package from Rock…
Box is worn but intact. Inner packaging is intact and looks good. Then I pulled a cover plug off…

A proper spreader could probably fix that "good enough". But that sucks.

Nooo this was NOT the packaging. This had a sheet of cardboard on either side of the radiator fins. It was wrapped in 2 and a half layers of bubble wrap and had two heat sealed banding straps holding this in place. There is zero evidence of any damage to the inner packaging that would deform the upper connection in the manner that i found it. It was made and damaged before it was packed. This is an internal quality control issue.

And really, to that point, Rock Auto doesn't always ship from their warehouses. Sometimes they have the manuf'er ship from their warehouses (drop ship).

That said, the onus on ALL of these radiators is on the manufacturer, to properly box their product, knowing goddamn well what the weak points are. They made it, and they should have, for exmaple, a basic foam ring around that inlet, to protect from this. Or beef up the cardboard in that spot.

This is something flatscreen TV manufacturers have been doing for years, knowing carriers are gonna smash the things if they don't. Surely, these companies are seeing radiators get returned with damage. They must know, painfully, what they need to do.

I received one time a radiator from a dealership loose in a box with other engine parts. No padding whatsoever. That radiator and all the other parts were beat to shit and promptly returned, never dealt with that dealership again either. I chalked that one up to some new or burned out person in shipping that absolutely did not GAF.

Hopefully it goes smoothly. I can see some vendors complaining there was no physical damage to the package and causing issues.

It’s a numbers game to them. For every few dollars they save in packaging, it outweighs the damaged returns they need to take back.

I wasn't sure where you were going with this, but I used to drive by a body farm a couple of times a week. Just a nondescript building surrounded by a fence, in the middle of nowhere where bodies were placed outside to be studied for the science of decomposition.

I think I've seen that type of thing on an episode of Dirty Jobs.

Yup. It was for sure an episode.

Yeah, it was. It's a little bit weird to see it in person. It was a research facility for Colorado Mesa University I believe.

Someone's gonna have a slab of tail steaks in their freezer! That's some good stuff right there.

We smoked up a bunch of gator for my friend Jesse's wedding 30-some years ago now. I'd only grilled or fried it up to then. I was surprised, it was really damn good smoked.

Trim the tail out into long steaks, similar shape/size to hanger steak with fat trimmed (too much gelatin). Overnight brine, just like you would with a shoulder (I like peppercorns, brown sugar, salt, thyme).

Pat dry, dry rub it, toss in the smoker. You're looking for an internal temp 160-170. That shouldn't take more than 1-2 hours, if you use probes, go for it.

You could probably use the backstrap also, but I think that's better marinated and grilled.

You could probably do full on slab tail steaks if whoever is eating it doesn't mind dealing with the hard parts thru the center.

That was a long ass time ago, so I had to look up the temps. We used to eat a lot of gator and froglegs when I was still in FL, and visiting family back home in LA. I've had my fair share of giggin' frog.
