Blew up and wanted to rebuild vs replace due to not being under the recall. Told them it ain't gonna fly. Sold it back to them for good deal and bought the trd pro for a great deal. Had a few days of back n forth but ended up with it for $15k under msrp

I can definitely tell a difference between my 23 platinum and my 25 trd pro. And I use regular unleaded :anonymous:

So having owned both and and you can feel a difference. Do you think the upgrade/package is worth it?

Definitely like the exhaust sound and not having it played thru the speakers. The turbos are ten times louder with the air intakes. Sport mode with full hybrid and turbos will move real good.

My platinum wasn't a hybrid so cant be 100% on if its strictly the performance package or not. When I bought it I didn't really know about the performance package.

Not trying to sound like an ass with this question... But any reason you're using 87 with a tune specifically designed for 91+ octane?

From my understanding, when toyota ran the numbers, they ran 91. So to "get" those numbers they recommend 91. I've tried both, multiple tanks, and can't tell any difference at all other than price of fuel.

I'm sure the ECU is retarding timing to offset your use of lower octane fuel.

Run 91 for a couple of tanks and use tow+, you will feel a difference. I would rather run 91 for a few cents more for peace of mind since I didn't buy the truck for fuel economy.

Running lower octane on a turbo’d motor with a more aggressive performance tune is a dumb idea. Pre-detonation. Look it up.
