Sometimes in my 23' limited with the JBL audio my microphones cutout when on a call. Sometimes muting/un-muting works for a little bit but normally I need to restart the truck. It has happened on Android Auto and Apple Car play making me think it's an issue with the truck. When the mic's cutout I can still hear the other person which makes it really weird. Anyone else experience this and is there a fix?

It happened on the original 1040? Code I picked the truck up with and the latest for the 14" display. I'll need to boot it up and double check but I upgraded it 3 weeks ago?

    Just checked 2050

I am having the same problem with my 2024 Tundra SR5. With Apple CarPlay or even just using the built in phone software from Toyota my microphone cuts in and out. Usually it’s 30 seconds on and 30 seconds off give or take. Other times is seems to work longer.

I can still hear the person but they can’t hear me. My Bluetooth connection to the car is always solid as my Amazon music streams flawlessly.

It is very frustrating and makes the handsfree useless. I have had it out with Toyota service and basically they tell me to wait for an eventual software update that might fix it. From what I can see it is not a widespread issue. They told me they changed another owners entire audio deck and that didn’t fix it. I’m still under factory warranty which apparently doesn’t mean much as they don’t seem willing to replace my deck or try anything to fix the issue. Just tell me to wait and see. Unacceptable to me. I’ve owned 6 Toyota vehicles and never dealt with anything like this.

    Thanks,
    Seth

Update for those following this, got the dealer to swap the head unit. Magically the new head unit did it before I even pulled out of the spot the dealer put the truck in after the swap. Got a phone call with the dealer tomorrow to see what else they can do. I "opted out" of the connected services I wonder if any of you did the same? I opted back in as a test and I'll post if it's the fix. My head unit also disconneced frequently before the swap, it seems slightly better but time will tell.

Final update, after opting back in all my microphones work again even with the new head unit that was cutting out prior. Something is seriously jacked with this....

UPDATE: I wish I had checked back in on this thread last year. I have been bugging my local Toyota dealer about this issue at every service. They did ultimately replace by head unit and exactly like carbinefreak I had the same problem as I drove home from the dealership.

About two weeks ago I was scheduled for service and decided to check this forum. I saw the comments from carbinefreak and said what the heck let’s mess around with the connected services. Mine were disconnected (using Toyota app) and I don’t know if I’ve ever had them connected since I bought the truck. I turned on both the service connect and safety connect in the app. The little green light up by the roof reading lights came on, etc. I tried the hands free and lo and behold the hands free worked fine for the first time since I bought the truck! I tried it out for a few days and no issues. So I decided to disconnect both the service connect and safety connect thinking this might cause the problem to return. Surprisingly it did not. It had been two weeks since I connected / disconnected the safety and service connect through the Toyota App and my hands free has worked without issue! Thanks Carbinefreak!

Somehow this weird glitch has something to do with connected services. I don’t know if connecting to connected services before the head unit was replaced would have fixed this issue or not or if it only works after having the head unit replaced. The head unit was replaced for both carbinefreak and myself.

if you are having this issue, connect your connected services and hopefully it will work! If it doesn’t, have the dealer swap the head unit and then connect to connected services and it seems like this will fix it!

Thanks everyone for posting on this issue. There are very few people with this problem and Toyota likely isn’t doing anything about it. Good thing we figured out the solution on our own. This has been my first really frustrating issue with probably 6 or 7 Toyota vehicles I have owned over the years.

    regards,
    Seth

So a recent development is I ordered the DCM bypass harness from autoharnesshouse.com and it actually enabled one of my speakers that I didn't realize was down until I put this DCM bypass in. The DCM hijacks the microphone and a speaker for the SOS calls, so I bet the your DCM is bad like mine was. If you don't care about the connected services I would give this a go, it worked for me.
