If the cabin heater control valve is "maximum" open (max temperature setting) when the truck is running, does the valve remain open when ignition is "off"? 2.5th Gen, 5.7L gas engine, model year 2015, manual HVAC.

Reason I ask is, I'm planning to do a complete coolant drain & refill of radiator, engine block, and as much as possible, the heater core.

If the control valve shuts off when ignition is off, I might have to use a "battery maintainer/ smart charger" to force valve open during the coolant maintenance. I realize the amount of coolant in heater core is small, but I am OCD about such things ;-)

    TIA
