Don't mind the welding. Lol. Ive been teaching my self and just now finally got to a spot where they dont look horrible.

Truck runs better for sure. Just a small run last night. Forgot to put the vacuum lines on w.g. was longer to get into boost as I assumed it would be for the larger turbos but only shot passed .4 bar one time to 1 bar but the cooler temps of the iat made it not flaten out and she kept pulling. Didnt stay in it long. Going to mess with some parameters today and see how she does. Logging last night looked good. Really good actually

well today was a bust. ended up having to drive 2 hours away with my trailer just to find 30 minutes into my trip that my brilliant thought of putting a t in line with my turbo oil return for my catch can return would be ok. nice smell of oil burning and probably a good half quart of oiled spewed all over the passenger side where it back flowed into catch can and right out the filter. managed to bandaid it until i could get back home to fix it correctly. lesson learned.
not to fond of the longer time for spoil while towing. just had it set straight to turbos to keep it from spiking today. installing boost controller on it again tomorrow and will see if the new setup will control properly. also managed to adjust my maf out of wack trying to find tune not paying attention that the cord had started to come loose, got lucky i didnt brick the damn computer and data logging killed my laptop so had to put the last hour home to keep it out of boost for the excessive knock it started to have in 97 degree heat. tomorrows a new start. will update you guys on everything after i finish tomorrow.

That's a lot of shit for a single day worth of update.

Fingers crossed it's all sorted and you're back on the right path tomorrow.

Soooo question. .lol I just realized I've never changed the plugs from the original one. Ive replaced but with stock ones. What are you guys running.

Found the manifold was leaking. Swapped that gasket yesterday and a new flange gasket. It was basically gone. Straight exhaust gets loud at times. Put my intake pipe back on. Spooks a little sooner. Maxing around 12 psi with w.g. disconnected. Around 5 hooked straight to turbo. Boost controller is useless. Doesn't do shit tightened all the way or loosened all the way. So going to take it as there the issue. (Ebay junk).
Boost is only hitting roughly 6 psi .4 bar in second. Goes to shift and it jumps up to roughly .5 to .6 bar 7.5 to 8lbs ish and stops st roughly .75bar sometimes 8bar. Estimating around 12psi. Not sure why but I'm happy with it stopping there. Thats with w.g. tubing disconnected.

How do you have the wastegate plumbed? You should have a boost port feeding into one side, then another side to the top of the waste gate, and the third side to the bottom of the wastegate. Boost comes in and gets redirected to either assist the waste gate spring or push avainst it and open the wastegate. On my turbo (not a tundra) I was using the boost port coming off the turbo and for whatever reason that never ended up working for me, but tying into a port down the boost tube (in my case the intake MAP port) made it work correctly.

You should be able to test the boost solenoid by activating it and blowing through it, and should be able to test the wastegate by hooking it up to a compressor. The last question is just if the boost controller is actually sending a signal, but I would think you could rig up a test for that.

If you are using a manual boost controller, either find a good quality one or ditch it for electronic. I had a crappy one way back when and it didn't matter which way I twisted it or ran the lines, it didn't do squat.

I'm running 1 step colder NGK plugs.

So from the turbo housing port to the bottom w.g. port is how its ran now. That's getting .4 to .5 bar wot pulling my trailer in 3rd. Building at wot in 2nd through to .35 .4 bar and then holding in 3rd and may tester the .5 bar area.

If you go into the very first post of this thread, almost all of your plug options are called out for you. it's been updated after a great discussion in the SC thread.

It's a living post, so if there is something missing or that you feel is incorrect, drop me a message and I'll get it updated. While turbos aren't new, it's newer than the SC option on this platform, so we're trying to capture all the data points someone looking to research a turbo would want to know.

It's nice being beyond the development and testing/proving stages and now we can focus on the details (e.g. fueling limitations, turbo back sizing, heat MGMT, etc).

If you can find it (I can't find the right episodes on YouTube, only on Hulu), try to find Engine Masters s6:e6 and s7:e7. One of those was about exhausts and the other about waste gates. The waste gate one is going to be of interest for you.

Definitely will. Over 8 years I've wanted to turbo this truck. Never thought I'd be one of the guys being the providers of information on what your can and can't do or how certain things work in scenarios. It's a love hate battle. Soon as I think i got my tune almost on point boom. Find another issue that needs addressed or changed of setup. Thank you guys for all yalls help

I really like that idea! Very tastefully done decal. And I like it even more on a 2nd gen than a third. Everyone already knows the 3rd is turbo by default

That link deserves to go on the front page.

Hell, it'd be nice to include that in the kit @TurboKits

Sdg-1 is alive. The upfitter switch is working as expected! All switches works in acc/on positions only. Each sw has a separate relay.

Other than because you could, why’d you put the gauge on a switch?

Good question! Overall, I just wanted a simple way to disable any of the systems. I didn't have any specific cases in mind, but now that you ask, here are 2 scenarios IMO: It allows you to restart it at any time without having to turn off the vehicle. In the event of a serious boost controller failure, turning it off will allow it to operate with the WG spring rate. BTW, It's not recommended to turn the scg-1 off while the vehicle is running, as it can damage the oxygen sensor. The cases mentioned should be rare situations.

If you hold one of the buttons for two seconds it goes to a menu and then after a few more seconds it restarts itself.

If say the o2 sensor doesn’t kick on, it defaults to bypass the solenoid and goes to wastegate spring.

Just stuff I’ve learned from experience. There are a lot of fail safes built into the gauge. Essentially, if anything doesn’t register right it turns solenoid control off which is a big peace of mind.

    Nice!, definitely!

I'm impressed with all the details and options offered by each component of the system. I learn so many new things every time I work on it!

I'm glad I'm doing it in phases, that TC share some aspects of the SC, that you guys have the same system, and that there are a lot of people here willing to help!

I have all my gauges, I/C pump etc on a switch. That way I can shut them off with the flick if a switch so no parasitic draw while tuning. When I had issues with my ecu HPT recommended not having anything on that could draw amperage, radio, amp, gauges etc on when writting the ecu.
