I just recently purchased a 2025 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro and I am only able to fuel it up 20 gallons or so on a 32.3 fuel tank, Has anyone else had this same issue? The dealer told me to bring it in and they have to do some type of programming.

How full are you on the dash when you fill up?

First note Tundra has a very large reserve. So when you hit empty on the dash you still have almost 7 gallons in the tank. If you fill up at 1/4 you probably have 10+ gallons in the tank.

All vehicles have a reserve usually a few gallons to keep in tank fuel pumps wet and cool. The Tundra has a very large reserve guessing due to the bigger tank being more long and shallow that short and deep so it needs more liquid to cover the pump even on slopes

I have the larger tank. Not sure I have ever pumped more than 25 gallons into it. When I fill up with 50-75 miles to empty it often is a 22-23 gallon or so full up.

    This hasn't been my experience.

The manual states there is 3 gal, or less, in reserve when the low fuel light comes on. That is been spot on from my experience.

When I get < 50 miles to empty it a 25-26 gallon fill up everything. Not even really when the warning light comes on.

So what trigger the original poster is keying off of is required info.

    Agreed on the required info.

On a recent road trip my low fuel light came on with 20 miles to empty. It was at 4 MTE when I pulled into the gas station. I put in 29.9 gallons.

Most of us here have ~6 gallons left when the refuel light comes on. Been discussed many times.

I tested it this weekend on my trip to Vermont/ Maine twice with 5 gallons in a Jerry can as back up ..... taking it to when the "count-down" ended. both were roughly 27.5 refills. On 35's with a 74.2 MPH avg for 400 miles I was at 14.4 MPG.

Yes, I know that's the general consensus, and that's why I pushed it so close on my last trip. I was surprised when I was able to put 29.9 gallons in with it showing 4 MTE.

Then I checked the Owners Manual and it confirmed the low fuel light is suppose to come on with about 3 gallons of reserve. In my case that was dead on.

Clearly there's no set rule for these Gen 3s. I certainly won't count on 6 gallons of reserve when the low fuel light comes on in my truck.

Again, you can't go based on MTE because the MTE uses some odd formulation for calculating that number. For example - I just got my tank filled and was driving at 11MPG efficiency (I was driving a heavy load uphill with heavy throttle/acceleration) but it said that my MTE was 450... I dont have a 40 gallon tank though... you need to go solely based on your instant MPG and ODO (assuming you reset it each fuel up). If you do that, you will always have 6-7 gallons left when your low fuel light comes on.

Again, regardless of the MTE, I traveled 16 miles after the low fuel light went on. I put in 29.9 gallons at the pump. Any way you slice it, there was about 3 gallons of reserve when the low fuel light went on. Not sure why that's so hard to understand.

If your truck has 6 gallons of reserve when the light goes on, great. But that's not the case with my truck, and it's not what the Owner's Manual says, either.

I find this to be very inconsistent based on trip info

I fill mine when around 50 miles left, is under 25 gallons so there are 7 gallons left in reserve? Needle is pretty close to empty.
