    Good morning everyone,

I am having trouble pinning down whether this combination is possible :

    Sunroof + 6 ½ foot bed.

Is that possible? I suspect that once you get to the more recent model years (2022+) it is NOT possible. How about in prior years?

To get the 6.5 bed in the 2nd and 2.5 gens you need to have a double cab config and not the crewmax....

Double cabs did NOT have an OE sunroof option...

Keep in mind that the 2nd and 2.5 gens crewmax had an option for sunroof in upgraded SR5, Limited, etc.. trim lines, and the crewmax also has the full roll down back window. So, if you're looking to haul lumber, etc. guys either put the load through the rolled down rear window or extend over the tailgate on the shorter crewmax bed

Hitch extenders, headache rack, convertible hitch extenders, hitch cargo baskets, etc. Lots of options! I have two convertible hitch extenders, front receiver, and a headache rack. Can easily transport a 28' LVL beam without a trailer. Got a custom cargo basket that my garden tractor can ride on. Don't sweat it, be creative.

2mchfun, I had to look up all of these mods! I'm not sure I have ever seen a headache rack, but that looks like an essential given the materials such as long boards that I will hauling. I appreciate it.

One of my buddies in NC has a nice welded aluminum rack on his RAM 1500, well made out of tubing. I asked about who made it and learned that the manufacturer is now out of business. But that is something I will be looking for as soon as I have chosen a Tundra.

I have an inquiry in with a shop in VA that does aftermarket sunroof installations. I am going to try for a 6 ½ ft bed configuration and then add what I want after I have it.

Yeah, sounds like either a headache rack, or even better, a hitch extender could solve your hauling issue. The crewmax backseat, looks, and resale is worth way more than that foot of bed space IMO.
