    Hey Guys
    2007 Tundra 5.7 SR5
I've had a starting problem several times. If I turn off the engine and try to start it after about 30 minutes, it starts normally, runs for about 5 seconds, and then dies. On the second attempt, it starts and then dies again after 3 seconds. On the third attempt, it only starts for 1 second and then it won't start again. If I wait about 15-30 minutes, it starts normally and everything is fine. I disconnected the fuel line to see if it was a fuel problem, and it has great pressure.

I have the same situation with my 2007 also. It starts up fine, and then just dies, like someone has turned off the key. If I try to start it again right away the same thing happens. If I wait about 5 minutes, with the key out of the ignition, and start it, it runs fine. This happens about once every 6 months. Someone suggested that the key, wasn't making the handshake to the ignition. I don't know if they are right, but as of yet I have been unable to figure out the problem. Sorry I can't be of more help, but 9 out of 10 times I never have the problem, and it is not repeatable so I haven't taken it in for service.

    Hello,

Has any type of maintenance done recently? How many miles on the truck?

260,000+ miles. I did a full maintenance right after I bought it with 213,000 on it, and I mean a FULL maintenance. Now I just do whatever the manual says along with 5000 mile oil changes. I should add that even after it won't start right up ( which is very very infrequently) it hasn't let me hanging once. I don't even worry about it anymore.

Mine has around 200,000 miles on it, and this problem occurs about every other week. The engine shuts off as if it were turned off. I make it service every 4,000 miles. The mechanics can't find the problem, which is that it's not active at that moment. It only happens when the car has been turned off for about 30 minutes, even without the key removed. If I wait a little longer (around 20-30 minutes), it works perfectly. It never happens while driving, and it doesn't throw any error codes.

My truck did this for the first 5 yrs I owned it then it started cutting out, at speed, for 1 second (?) and then back to normal again.

I switched to my valet key and zero issues since.

It just happened the other day for me. Waited about 5 minutes, and it fired right up and no problems. I don't have a valet key unfortunately. New battery Jan 25.

Well, the easy stuff first. Make sure all is connected properly under the hood. A solid visual inspection. Good, clean airflow sensor? is there any type of data stored in the ECU for this? Any freeze frame data from when the issue takes place?
Have you checked fuel pressure when the issue is happening?
You're looking for something that's taking down the whole engine running; i.e. airflow restriction, fuel delivery, full ignition control, etc.

You mentioned you verified fuel pressure, was this verified exactly when the problem is happening?
