my guess would be same reason companies making delete kits and tuning for diesels have pulled a lot of their stuff. EPA has everybody makin “performance” parts nervous right now. That EZ lynk lawsuit could jam a lot of people

    That seems like overkill.

Honestly, with how much $$ they pull, I'd pull the damn things cleanly and sell 'em. Just pop the nuts off at their respective flanges, or disc them off, and bolt up whatever you're gonna bolt up.

The OEM cats seem like they never die. I have yet to see someone throwing cat efficiency codes (P0420/P0430) where the cats are actually the problem. It's always bad sensors, an exhaust leak, or some other stupid failure causing the issue.

Damaging them to remove easily, when you need to pull the flanges anyway to bolt something up, just seems like overkill.

And just to bitch and rant for a sec, the number of people who blindly (ignorantly?) believe their cats are clogged just because the engine throws a code suggesting their efficiency seems low is too damn high.

I’ll see if I can find a shop to remove the cats and weld in straight pipe… and pray for no error codes I guess .

Ummmm….who you planning on praying to for no error codes? The Lord parted the Red Sea for Moses, but he ain’t gonna keep the inevitable multiple error codes from popping up after you cut out the cats.

You'll need bungs for the upstream O2 sensors or your truck will go straight into limp mode. Down stream O2 sensors will need some type of hack to fool the ECU that you still have cats or you'll have a stream of constant error codes. Don't expect any power increase out of removing them and I feel like the VVTI engines are a lot more finicky about sensors than the non VVTI engines.
