I’ve had a complete fluid exchange done at 100k through the cooler lines. Just had the pan down at 180k to clean the magnets and swap the screen “filter”. Very minimal seen inside the pan. Replaced with Toyota WS both times.

The sensor is installed in a manner which allows it to be 'submersed' in the fluid. Attempting to read the 'internal fluid temp' by means of reading the exterior surface temp of a thick piece of metal will not provide you with accurate results.

    Not enough....
You can buy a very cheap OBDII Bluetooth adapter, and use a free app to read the transmission temps. I have used this adapter for nearly 7 years: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00PJPHEBO?th=1

As for the app, I use the Torque app on my Android, but there are other free apps for iOS. For the torque app, I did need to input a custom PID, but a quick Google search will yield that. I'm unsure about any iOS apps that will work, but I'm sure there are plenty.

And as somebody else already mentioned, you cannot take the temp of the outside of that pan, that won't be accurate. Worst case, just let it run for 10 minutes and pull the overfill plug to make sure you get at least something out. As long as you aren't drastically underfilled you'll be fine.

I understand, thank you for the reply. I did see one video where a thermal gun was used and tech said it was fine but the majority must rule with this one. Thanks again

Thank you, I currently have a “Blue Driver” OBDII reader for IOS. It does not give temperatures but has been ok for everything else for like 7 or 8 years now.
I’ve read a lot about the OBDLink MX+…will have to research more on the ones that will give trans temps.

One crush washer per plug. The drain plug and check level plug both use the same crush washer, part number 35178-30010. The fill port plug uses an o-ring part number 90301-15004.
