Hey everyone, brand new to the forum!
I just bought a tundra rally 2025, and when It is in gear. It starts to make a ticking sound… Like Three ticks in a row, and repeats. The truck only has 30 miles on it, so I am not overly concerned
It does not do it in Park or reverse.
Is this something to be concerned about or is it normal for a tundra to be making that noise?

I know my tacoma used to make a weird noise when I would shut it off

Not sure what it could be but it does not sound normal, no. My ‘25 doesn’t make that sound.

Somewhere there is a thread that talked about the 3 tick in a row in drive being a transmission problem and the poster's dealer replaced the transmission, after some amount of time the new one started to do it as well

I wouldn’t worry about it. I had a 22 and it had 99K on it and it pretty much made that noise from day 1. My 24 does it as well, maybe a tad more noticeable. I can really only hear it at a drive thru. I’ve tested other Tundras and they do it too. If you switch to neutral or reverse it goes away. I think it’s just a characteristic of the truck and I wouldn’t be concerned. There are other threads on this and it’s pretty common and I never heard of the root cause or fix. Even when dealers replace the transmission it still happens.

Thanks for all the comments.. this forum is great! I took the truck to the dealership and met with techs and the service manager. He showed me other brand new 2025's making the same sound.. he said perfectly normal.

so there you have it! i think i got caught up in the paranoia arounf the Tundra. Its a great truck and Toyota is a great company. Im just going to enjoy it!
