I'm curious of what engine oil everyone prefers. Is the 0w20 what you use, has anyone used a heavier weight and what results did you get?

Most of us use 5-30 for a host of reasons - just do a search. Which type would be Full Synthetic and the brand could be any of many. My fav is M1 in a high mileage 20K life variety - although I do 4K OCIs cuz that is what my 5.7 achieves in 1 year. Luck all.

Maybe I'm partial only because my dealer is a supplier, but I've been using this since 2006

Have you noticed any decreased gas mileage with the heavier weight oil? How many miles does yours have?

5w-30, Pennzoil Ultra Platinum, FS. You'll have a happier engine with a heavier weight oil. I believe, and someone correct me if I'm wrong, GM is now passively recommending a heavier oil than 0w-20 to help correct their engine problems.

I ran 10w 30 summer time and 5w30 winter time once my truck got 200000 helped with the timing chain noise for me. I also ran 2 oz of sea foam per quart of oil in the motor and did the top end treat ment, and 1 can in the gas tank every 100000 miles after I did that I changed spark plugs and pvc valve. Made 365000 miles truck still ran great just when it let a head gasket go at about 363000 cost to repair a truck with that many miles was not effective for me with what I drove it all over America. No need for new engine with same drive Train. But that was just me. . Let her go at 365xxx. Miss that truck every day.

Valvoline restore and protect 5w-30, I had the timing chain noise at start up on my 2016 at 140,000 miles. After two oil changes, it made a noticeable difference on the noise, much quieter

MPG basically the same because you can't really get much worse or better MPG from oil choice on this engine
Barely ever freezes here so I don't have to worry about a super cold start
0-20 is for the birds IMO

Nothing that I can tell, someone put the TRD stickers on but there's no upgraded shocks or anything.
I wish I had joined last night, I just had my oil changed....0W-20 full synthetic in. Welp, now I know. I've never changed the oil myself because of lack of space (weak excuse?) at our apartment but I might have to start just so I can use 5W-30. We have a 2011 Tundy with 178k on her, valve gasket leak, and cam tower leak, neither of which is bad; I check oil a few times a week.
