I swapped out my A/C compressor in the rain. Tomorrow I'll change out the drier and put a vacuum on it and hopefully be able to service the refrigerant.

What’s the reason you changed the compressor?

A/C quit working. Compressor wouldn't rotate when A/C got turned on.

Ohhh yeah compressor is done so you gotta change everything

just make sure you lube all the ac orings with ac oil; did you check the level of oil in the compressor before you put it on?

since you aren’t changing the condenser at least try to brake clean and blow it out as best as possible, if those metal shavings stay in there you’ll be doing this again in 3 months

Did the rear shocks tonight. Hopefully I’ll get to the fronts soon. The stock ones still dampened with 105k on em. Took all of 1.5 hours, had to cut the nuts off on the old shocks. IMG_1692.jpg IMG_1690.jpg IMG_1693.jpg

Well after 6 years of hard use I’m finally taking off the bumper I made; pretty proud of it holding up, I’ll eventually make another one with round tube and more tube work on it

also took my rear bumper off to paint

Do the rear shock tower bushings come off? By lowers were attached to the shock, but the uppers were stuck to the mount.

They do, you have to stick a screw driver to poke them off sometime

Honestly, I did not check the oil before installing the new one. I know for a fact that it has some in it though (I could see it when I was reconnecting the lines). But I didn't pour it out to measure it. :(
I was thinking about adding like 2 ounces of oil after I vacuum it out and then fill the rest with refrigerant.

If you aren’t replacing the condenser don’t worry about it, there will be enough oil in the system, if you replace everything then you need to measure

The only other thing I'm replacing is the drier, just gotta find a moment to go to Harbor Freight and get a 14mm allen socket.

Does everyone have a rubbing issue when replacing rear rotors?

I got ADVICS from rock auto I think they’re the OEM supplier. It looks like it’s been happening even with the older rotors, they just haven’t made any noise.
Others seem to also have this problem but I've been moving the dust shield with no difference.

Just ended up painting and trimming the brake guard where it rubbed. The paint helped, still took 2 times each side.

    Chandler, AZ, not anymore :(
Finally got myself to jack it up, put it on some utility pole pieces, and took the wheels off. Step 1 in preparation for coilovers, UCAs, and rotors.

Reading through this thread I'm feeling the need to add 5-15 hp. Where are you guys getting those TRD rad caps?

Not sure about any HP gain, but I'm now getting 32 mpg since adding the TRD radiator cap. Can't believe I waited so long to do it.

A couple more MPG would help too.
Are the caps from Toyota? Any special one?
