I can’t tell if the ride has always been bouncy or if it’s gotten worse. I can’t find any advice on whether or not I should replace the shocks and struts just on age. The steering wheel does bounce around a whole lot with bumps but I’ve had it so long I can’t tell if that’s gotten worse or not. It is tiring to drive it for even 30m-1hr drives. Obviously I don’t drive it much based on mileage. OBTW just got new tires because the old ones were scaring me just on age…

Has the truck been in for the Lower Ball Joint recall yet?

How do the rack bushings look?

If it's V8, when was the last time the timing belt was changed? It's overdue by about 12-13 years. Just like you wouldn't trust driving around on 22 year old tires, if that belted rubber belt snaps, it's a low interference engine, and it may magically transform into a boat anchor.

Shocks are usually a 80-100k mile interval thing. If you see no evidence of leaking, and the lower mount bushing looks OK, I'd be OK with it.

Steering wheel shouldn't be bouncing around though.

I'm unaware of a specific age.

Sounds like you've got an unusually low mileage vehicle. Being garaged is a real plus. Be a shame to brick it for lack of timing belt replacement as Shifty pointed out. If it was mine, I'd take it a qualified mechanic along with past maintenance records and pay him to go over the entire truck. As far as steering wheel sensation... who knows? Could be a sticky front brake caliper causing mischief. When was the last time there was new brake fluid, 22 years ago?

    Good luck.
