What kind of gains could I see swapping out my Trd dual exhaust? Been looking at this exhaust but man the Trd exhaust sounds good with the 2 rear cats removed.

You’d still see small gains from that system but if you’re happy with that system I’d say stick with that. This will be a rowdier than yours.

I have not tried the SPD catback, but I have the SPD midpipes. I definitely lost torque and responsiveness down low going from the TRD catback to the DirtyDeeds TRD replacement with an X pipe. I swapped back to the TRD and love the sound and low end grunt with the midpipes. Both sounded great in their own way. In my experience you will lose torque down low with the X pipe over the true divorced duals. I’d go with whatever you love the sound of over whatever perceived power gains you think you will make however.

That’s why we did the equal length catback for the torque loss issue.

Just the cat back for now.

Plan is to finish it off with a set of the ARH long tubes but that won’t be for a while now I don’t think.

I grew tired of saving for a regear and lockers so I decided to spoil myself and finally make this truck sound good :)

Nice- I can confirm it pairs well with the ARH long tubes.

The stock muffler is an absolute tank. Good lord. Fit and finish on the SPD is top notch. Coming from a V6 Tacoma, this thing sounds so damn good!

I wouldn't call it drone but the volume is much louder than stock.

In my experience, yes. It drones. May not be as much as some others that I’m not familiar with, but I believe there is drone.

At idle, the SPD sounds amazing. It’ll make you grin like a little kid every time you start the truck. Seriously, it’s badass.

    Accelerating hard sounds equally sweet.

It’s when you’re just cruising under light load that it drones. Maybe I noticed it more since I have a canopy? Dunno. I will say that it became unpleasant for me as a daily driver, so I swapped it out and sold it.

Fit was awesome. Finish and build quality were great. Sound was great. Just too much volume and drone for my taste. Could barely use my bluetoof for phone calls.

I’ve switched to a DD system with Hemholtz resonator and the drone is 100% gone. Quieter system overall, but zero drone. None.

The SPD is super cool, but just too rowdy for me.

unfortunately no. their biggest discount was from when they did the product launch group buy if I remember right. you can use the discount code TUNDRANATION for 5% off, believe it's active all year, but I did notice between November and December it did 10% off instead.

Anyone in this thread have the Dirty Deeds TRD replacement system prior to buying the SPD exhaust? I've been toying with the idea of replacing the Dirty Deeds system because I hate the look of the factory TRD Pro tailpipes. It just looks like a complete after thought compared to all modern US trucks that have some sort of integrated bumper cut out for the tips. My biggest concern going away from the Dirty Deeds system is drone. When I first bought the Dirty Deeds system, I ran it for a few weeks without the helmholtz resonators. It had some considerable drone. After installing the resonators, it was instantly gone, it was quite amazing. Looking at this SPD system and it's lack of helmholtz resonators has me concerned I might get some drone upon going to this system. Anyone have some thoughts?

Why not just redo the rear section exit and have it done in the way you want with that existing system?

I'd prefer to see no tail pipes at all, and when you cut the tips off after the axle, it totally kills the sound of the exhaust system. It sounds totally weird without that last 1.5-2ft of pipe. I know because I tried it and had my metal fabrication buddy tig weld them back on immediately lol!

The only downside to the axle dumped exhaust like the spd exhaust is the added noise due to the sound bouncing between the ground and the bed.

With the spd catback my truck its actually louder with the windows up vs windows down. A sheet of sound deadening material on the floor and the back wall should help eliminate that, but most people wouldn't be down for that extra work.

I love the way the spd exhaust sounds on my truck. It's damn near perfect in all daily driving scenarios, but it is much louder than stock (obviously) so it's going to "drone" a noticeable amount. It being axle dumped just amplifies that extra "unwanted" noise even more. It's at its loudest around 2200-2400 rpm.

If it were me I'd just be throwing on some of those cool corsa tips with the dirty deeds exhaust.

If you don't want the tips visible and have a good reliable fabricator, you could always go with a side exit :)
