Surface rust starting around 2019 windshield. Same problem I had with 2004 tundra.

Minimal, but I keep her clean. Will I be able to buff out and then seal spots with a dab of clear coat?

It makes you wonder if this was a defect in the paint from the factory or if it’s a result of rock chips.

It ain't from rock chips, the rust is too prolific.

Yikes, that really sucks. My truck is the midnight black metallic color and so far I haven’t noticed anything but I’m going to take a closer look when I get the chance.

I’ve heard certain Toyota paint colors (especially Ice Cap / Super white) are very thin and of lesser quality and so are prone to this sort of flaking. I wonder if that’s what’s going on with your Tundra.

Do you live somewhere that your truck gets exposed to a lot of salt?

Hell,I live on the Gulf Coast and go to the beach frequently and I have zero rust.
Not sure if you mentioned this but for some reason I feel like you did but were there any rock chips before hand?

Any way for water to get past that seal?

I'm in Massachusetts, so I'm definitely exposed to salt and snow. The paint color is Calvary blue with a matte finish. The lack of gloss on the finish makes the paint appear to have less clear coat protection than other glossy colors. I do have a fair amount of rock chips on the front bumper. I did have these same rust spots on my 2004 Tundra. The Difference is that they didn't appear until the truck was 12 years old; this truck is barely 6 years old.
On a positive note, this hasn't affected the window seal to date.

Funny enough I just bought a 2019 Cement colored truck and this weekend I detailed it and noticed a couple rock chips along the windshield header that are starting to rust. Mine haven't started bubbling like yours though so I just ordered some touch up paint so my plan is to lightly sand, paint, and clear coat the chips.

    None....
I got several rock chips like that around my Windsheild.I also have thousands of little rock chips on my windshield. It looks like mine minus the rust.
