I very much wanted WCP over white. Heck, of my acceptable colors the only one I preferred ice cap over was supersonic red. I had to settle on the color due to the options I did and did not want being a hard combination to find on short notice.

My issue with Ice Cap was the failing Super White II (040) on my 2nd gen Tacoma. That paint has a long history of chipping/flaking issues across multiple models. Ice Cap has the same paint code, so I assume it's just a marketing rename of the same paint. At least WCP has a base and clear.

Same paint code but I’m fairly certain I remember reading they do something different now - I just can’t remember what. I’m sure someone here will know.

they most likely renamed it to try and hide from the notorious "super white" that is known to be horrible.

WCP is a 3 layer paint. Most, if not all, pearl paints are.

According to a google search Ice Cap is normal paint with a base and a clear coat. I know a guy who worked (retired) as a painter in Toyota's Indiana plant, and he said none of their paints were single stage, even back in the gen 1 days.

I've heard so many conflicting reports about the gloss white and gloss black paints, whether they were single stage or not. When I polished my Super White II Tacoma...I would get residue on the pads which led me to believe it was single stage. Whatever it was, it was not a great quality paint or paint job. Mine started flaking around the windows and worse, on the tops of the fenders where the seam was covered by the hood.

The limiteds now get leather seats as opposed to softex in 2025? Wonder why that is.

It’s on Toyota’s tundra builder. What’s weird is that the pro’s seats are still softex since the pro is based off the limited trim.

I don't think it's an error. Have a 26 Limited on order and the dealer confirmed only change is from SofTex to leather, everything else is carried over from 25 for that trim. In Canada anyway.

not really, some people like the softex better, just depends on the person. I don't think its a real big deal eitherway, but thats just my worthless .02

yeah no i believe to some it don’t matter, but i’m sure majority would prefer the genuine leather over the faux leather.

Also comes with a decent price hike in Canada - $1320 more vs a 25.

Probably, but my last 4 full size trucks were leather, and I don't like the way leather ages, never mind how little of it is actually used, on the seating panels only in most cases. I don't like the way the surface 'polishes' itself from wear, it folds and creases and cracks. So in the case of my 2025 Limited, I actually chose it for the Softex seats. It looks good, cleans easy, doesn't scratch and is quite tasteful in design and appearance. I didn't make this decision lightly. The term I couldn't escape after so many trucks was "Cowboy Cadillac," its own brand of faux; Lariat, Longhorn, 1794, Platinum, Capstone etc, ostentatious, overstyled and not me. If you consider why Lexus doesn't make a pickup truck, or Cadillac, or why Lincoln Blackwood failed, or how you think about a GMC Denali; if you go over the top with luxury styles, and then underneath it uses the same cheap panels and plastics, ultimately aging itself into the same pos as the others, I'd rather my truck not pretend it's not fake, stickers and badges, not a luxury car, not a racer or offroad machine either, just be a quiet, smooth running all weather space that's comfortable to spend time in going to the places I want it to take me and my stuff with exactly the features I want, street all season radial tires, leveling rear air suspension and minus the fake chromes, grills, badges and useless (for me) offroad lifted suspensions and shocks. /rant_off

The isodynamic seats are only $980 msrp. But I guess that's factory pricing and they'll be $10000 if you try to order them through parts.

Most lower trim level leather are leather trimmed seats using builder grade leather products. It can be stiff from being overworked to remove grain imperfections and wrinkles a lot with age.

Is it leather yes. Better quality or performance than some of the newer textiles maybe not so much.

I 100 percent prefer the softex. If you don't tell somebody it's not leather 9 out of 10 won't know it. It's WAY more durable. My brother's 4Runner has softex and he has hauled his dogs in it for years. Big dogs with big paws and claws. It still looks great after the abuse.

Softex is something like 20% more durable to stains than regular leather and stays 15% cooler than leather as well

Not only the stains, but the scratches too. His interior is obviously used as it's a 2015 or 2016, but it looks really good.

the platinum leather is a higher quality leather, obviously you pay for that going up a trim though, I keep mine well conditioned and its really nice, heated and cooled front and back

if I was going limited, and it was going to be cheaper leather, I would rather just likely have the softex

That's part of what makes me happy in the Limited. The feature adds in the trims above it are all things that I really don't need or want.

    1. Good luck finding something above Limited that doesn't have the pano roof. Dealbreaker for me. I won't own one.
    2. Massaging seats. I have never had them and I've been happy. Maybe I'd love it, but ignorance is bliss.
    3. Heated/vented rear seats. No use for me. I might have a rear passengers 5 times in a year. Usually less than that.
    4. Real leather. Not opposed to it, but perfectly happy with the softex. I will concede that the capstone Sequoia had mush more plush seats when I poked at them, but that was padding underneath. Plus, I'm not paying Capstone prices.

Those are honestly the only things in the upper trims that are not in the Limited that I can think of. Are there any others I missed?

Nothing strikes me as even mildly upgraded leather until you get to the Capstone semi-aniline, which itself is at best a mid-tier to full aniline, and well below full grain, top grain and nappa.
