I bought a 2004 DC with 259,000 miles last summer. This spring I replaced and upgraded my suspension including: LBJ’s, UBJ’s, LCA’s, sway bar links, tie end rods, polyurethane steering rack bushing, upgraded to Beilstein 5100 with OME 2885 in the front & 5100’s in the rear, and put on some 33” open country AT3’s 255/80R17.

Everything done this far has significantly improved my steering & stability. But when I get off road onto a dirt National Forest service road my steering wheel rattles intensely. I found this YouTube solution for a Tacoma https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y_AsS2Km9rE&t=372s which I believe it the same problem that I have.

After a few hours of struggling I finally got my entire upper steering assembly out of the truck only to not be able to remove the part that I intended to tack weld. I believe there’s a solution here I just couldn’t find it myself. Anyone else have luck separating the collapsible part of the steering linkage to tack weld?IMG_1471.jpg IMG_1470.jpg

Thank you Shifty! I’ll definitely read up on that! Also this was my first post, was this the correct forum or was there a better one for this content?
