I got all my stuff installed this week including new JL components front and rear, new JL dash speakers, their sub, along with the JBL DSP4086 amp upgrade.

I’ve seen others mention this and I feel this way too, but it feels like the tuning could use some tweaking…particularly more from the Mids in the doors and less being sent to the sub. Mids seem to be missing with the supplied tune from them.

I spoke to Taylor this week and he told me about the ability to tune the amp with a laptop and he is willing to help me in a couple weeks. My question for yall is for anyone that has done their own tune to bring up the Mids, do you have the file saved that you could share and can it be uploaded to the amp? Thx!

PM'd you with the tune I am running, nothing professional but smooths things out. Good luck. Don't change anything on the input mixer side of things.

It seems the Tundra JBL stereo was originally designed to pump out highs up front and most of the mids / bass through the rear doors. And the original 8" sub woofer didn't seem to put out any noticeable sound.

For me it was a three step fix. Replace the sub woofer. Then replace the mid speakers up front. Then adjust the input mixer on the DSP4086 amp.

Note: The DSP4086 input mixer configuration does not NOT get saved to the file. You must take a picture of the DSP4086 input mixer configuration before you make any changes to it so that you have a point of reference in case you want to revert back to the original input mixer configuration.

In essence, my DSP4086 input mixer came preconfigured from James to take 50% input from the original front mid signal (minimal mid sound) and 50% input from the original mid back signal (lots of mid sound) and feed it to the front mid speakers. To get more mids up front, I reconfigured the input mixer to take 100% input from the original mid back signal and feed it to the front mid speakers. This gave me noticeably more mids up front. The downside is I lost the ability to fade between the front and back speakers via the stereo controls which I'm not overly concerned about. Longer term, I may attempt to reconfigure the front mid inputs to take 100% input from the original mid front signal and then increase the bass within the DSP4086 EQ to compensate for the lack of mid sound. Hopefully this all makes sense. I'm currently working on a few other projects, plan on taking another stab at optimizing the sound later this fall.
