    This is on my list.
What's the best way to get all the old fluid out?

The easiest and cleanest way is to suck out as much fluid from the reservoir first. Then pull the return line from the reservoir and cap it. Insert a barb fitting with tubing into the return line and run that to a collection bottle of some kind. Then just turn your steering wheel back and forth to pump out the old fluid. You will have to periodically fill the reservoir with new fluid and just continue until it starts to come out clean

How did you stick it behind the grille? I really like that.

This is the style I find and it sits on the front, I really like yours.

Yes, much easier that way. I did it while rotating my tires. And you will want to have the truck on, but without the engine running so that your steering wheel doesn’t lock up

It's not behind it, it just fits in the gap of the limited grille pretty well. It mounts the same way that one does.

Ok, so back to the AJT vs Meso steering wheel blackout kit saga...

So, for those that missed it, I had ordered and received the AJT kit because Meso had been out of stock for so long I finally gave up on it....

Installed the AJT unit and everything was fine with it except one area that's not rounded well and has a sharp feel to it. The piece protrudes just a bit further than it probably should...

    IMG_2064.jpg

So, no it's not a normal hand position, but for some reason it was bothering the shit out of me (cuz I knew it was there mainly), but also because I'll sometimes hold the steering wheel w/my left elbow resting on my thigh and my palm kinda sitting at the 7 o'clock position and find myself 'fingering' the inside area of the wheel and that trim piece just enough to annoy the shit out of me....

    IMG_2065.jpg

Fast forward to receiving an email from MESO like a day or so after installing the AJT pieces saying that they were now back in stock... :smash:

...and yuhp, I ended up ordering the MESO kit and it arrived shortly thereafter. As always, the MESO products ship fast (when they have them) and they are packaged/protected well. Pull them out of the box, and sure enough, butter smooth and nicely rounded on all the exposed pieces...
So, I risk life and limb again removing that damn airbag, swap the pieces out and button everything back up... again!!! :annoyed:

Really, not a big deal, but no more sharp edges for my delicate digits to glide across!!!!

Anyhow, overall feedback between the two products:

Meso for the win w/a nice 'factory feel' and no protruding or sharp plastic edges on the exposed pieces.

Meso finish has a bit more 'sheen' to it and the AJT is definitely more of a 'flat' finish in terms of paint color. I actually like the AJT finish better.

Cutouts... Meso had a few negative reviews on the cutouts for the buttons, and while I got a very nice clean OE finish against the wheel from the Meso pieces... the AJT cutouts, especially for the lower buttons (adaptive cruise, lane assist, and phone answer hang up buttons on my year), are finished w/just a slight tighter tolerance than the Meso unit :notsure:

So, anyhow for anyone pusuing their Tundra blackout dreams, there's my feedback on the steering wheel pieces from Meso and AJT :hattip:

Turning the steering wheel without the engine running will pump the power steering fluid??

Yes, it will still pump the fluid, but only when you are actively turning the steering wheel

Yes, I have. However, what AJT does not disclaim on their product page is that there potential fitment issues. They do not sit perfectly flush with the door card on the hinge side and leave the handle partially open by 1-2mm or more.

I had to grind off more plastic than I thought on the hinge side to make all 4 handles sit flush and even had to warranty them and get a new set because I had to grind off too much to the point of creating a hole. The warranty set still needed grinding.
