I found out about the Pro Circuit aluminum nut only after I ordered the full replacement kit for the plunger. They are about the same price, this ZipTy one is $10 cheaper. I might have to get that one for the next time I rebuild the carb if the bike doesn't idle. I got it back together last night. Just gotta change the oil and get some gas in it.

I had to replace an O'ring that went from a radiator hose to the engine. It was old and cracked. I found the one I needed on Partzilla for $8! For a damn O'ring. Motosport had it for $5 but it would have taken a week to get it. Partzilla was gonna overnight it to me for $44. Ugh. I went to work the next day and asked our plumber for one. They had the exact one I needed and for the right price of free.

So after all that I ordered a 950 O'ring kit off Amazon for $10. It's good just to have them around. That kit had 10 of the O'rings I needed in it. I'm in the wrong business.

@Baja Mike I’m impressed with your attention to detail with making sure everything is able to function as it should. Great work!

The bike looks good and fresh! I may have to look into that parts washer, thanks for sharing.

I have had the foam of my goggles disintegrate after sitting for years haha.

    How is your gear?

My gear is old and for a much skinnier me. That’s next on the list along with tires. Fortunately my friend’s kid works at a shop and can get gear for dealer cost.

    I hate carbs.

So I put some gas in the bike, turn on the petcock and crack the throttle, gas starts pouring out the overflow tube from the top. Shit.

Tear it apart again, take part the carb to make sure the floats are set at the correct height. Done. Put the carb and tank back on, turn the gas on and crack the throttle. Gas pouring out from the bowl overflow tube. Ok, progress. I take off the car and check the float and float needle. Turns out the new one I put in was much smaller than the old one. Old one is still good so I put it back in, put it back together, put it on the bike, put the tank on and get gas in it. I open the gas, open the throttle wide open and no overflow. Nothing coming out! YAY. Put the bike back together, again.

Time to play kickity-kick. I tried kicking that bitch over for 10 minutes. Even put my boots on for it. Nothing. Take my boots off and trying to push start it in the street. 10 tries at that and I'm sweating like a whore in church but still nothing. Fuuuuuuck.

Ok. Back on the stand and I open on the carb drain screw. Nothing coming out. WTF! From all the gas to no gas at all. I'm done for the day. Back at it tomorrow.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Had a similar problem with our ’04 YFZ 450 ( Keihin FCR 39mm Flat Side) … Never had a problem until I took carb apart for cleaning and rejet. While I was in there I decided to check float height and made an adjustment per manual. (I should of never fucked with it) Took it out for a ride and after a full throttle run the carb couldn’t keep up with fuel delivery and would bog hard almost stalling. Took carb apart and made a very minor adjustment to lower the float to allow more fuel into carb. I think there is a very fine tolerance between too high and too low float level where it will overflow or starve fuel. I also fixed a hung idle issue with an adjustment to TPS.

@Baja Mike I’m not a tech but trying to help. Which carb rebuild parts or kit did you purchase? OEM or Amazon /eBay? It sounds like at least one of the parts was incorrect. Could there be more? No margin for error with these parts, I always go with OEM.

    Is that a Keihin FCR?

That float is what allows the fuel to come down into the bowl. Sounds like that is where I would start. Is it getting hung up somehow? Is the float needle moving freely? After you get her back together before kicking, keep that carb drain open and turn on the gas and see if it’s making its way to your bowl or not. If not, don’t bother kicking and go back to the drawing board.

After that, double check your screw adjustments.

While my dirtbike is up for sale, doesn't mean I'm not riding it. :D

I have an aluminum 51 tooth rear sprocket coming today and purchased an RK 120 link O-ring chain yesterday.

We plan on riding on Wednesday this week. Glad my kid still likes riding over her boyfriend/jetski time. :D

@Baja Mike, I get your frustration man. It seems like if something sits for a while it goes to crap. Fuel injection is rather nice.

Got home from the bar and had a delivery. Chain and sprocket on and my daughter kinda makes the bike look small.

Been a long time since I was on a bike, but some friends lent me one for a weekend of riding in Idaho three weeks ago, and then they found a TE250i they said was a good deal so I had them pick it up, and now heading back from a bachelor party it's loaded up!

    PXL_20250727_231100268.jpg

It's a 2022 with 18 hours and a bunch of suspension upgrades and skids and other random stuff, paid $6k for it. I'm super stoked to be able to ride again, after trying my friends 450 KTM it let me open up a bit to spending more on a bike than I would normally consider.

It's a Keihin FCR. Honestly, I got the rebuild kit years ago and I don't remember where I got it. The gasket it came with worked fine. I only replace two jets that were the same size as stock. I wanted to be sure they weren't clogged. I'll get back to it some time this week. Got some other things to take care of first. Thanks for the info.

Anyone have any experience with a quality hitch hauler? I’m currently using a harbor freight carrier which admittedly has me a little uneasy. I almost pulled the trigger on the pakmule moto carrier but don’t think dropping my tailgate will clear the front wheel chuck. My tailgate as is barely clears this flat harbor freight carrier. I’m in a peculiar spot with my high clearance bumper and hitch location. I’m trying to avoid detaching the carrier every time I want to lower the tailgate or using any addditional lowering brackets etc that could be a weak point. I have to remove my spare tire and swing out as is… so I’m partially ok with doing that.IMG_3249.jpg IMG_3167.jpg IMG_3166.jpg

I used this style hitch hauler with my jeep. https://www.rockymountainatvmc.com/parts/all-jacked-up-switch-hauler-with-foot-peg-restraint-3-1-4%22-drop-p?s=1381839&srsltid=AfmBOorxp3kcdiB9zeGhe_MT8cVLBxEZBWxXOOAKjc7GlDpIkRYXY2m2JUM&gQT=1
Good departure angle, don’t have to use a ramp, you might be able to lower the tailgate if you just lower the bike, and maybe you could angle the bike to avoid your spare.

Probably the best design for a hitch carrier but it must be gold plated with a price like that.

Joe Hauler is the way to go. He makes the best out there. If he doesn't have what you want, you can get ahold of him and he'll make it for you. It's all made in the USA and Joe races offroad, so he knows what a bike carrier goes through.

As far as the old Yamaha, I took apart the carb yet again, reset the float height, and before putting it back on the bike I plugged it into the gas tank to see if gas was running to the bowl. Thank you @MotoTundra for that bit of advice. Put it back together and after a few minutes of kicking and adjusting idle screws and chokes, it fired up. Road it up and down the street and checked the brakes to see if they worked properly and they did. So stoked right now.

I might have to repack the FMF muffler. It smelled like burning wood. But the bike also spent a few years in my parents garage and in that time they had a new roof put on the garage. So maybe some sawdust got in the pipe. Who knows. lol

I had a linglong version of it that I found on fb marketplace for a rust-coated price. The bottle jack has been leaking hydraulic fluid since I bought it but surely that’s a design feature for anti corrosion.

Any of you guys fuck with adventure bikes? Been drooling over a tenere 700 and vstrom 800 at the local dealer. Cause apparently my truck and moto don't take up enough time and money

I fantasize about owning a T7 for commuting quite often.

I keep going back and forth, because I don't really have any desire to ride on the street around town, but the idea of being able to cruise out to the forest and rip around and camp is pretty appealing. And I'd love to do some BDR type stuff on 2 wheels
