I'm new here. I'm looking for a hood latch release lever. The lever that attached to the hood, that is used to release the safety latch, after pulling the release inside the cab.

Need pics. There's a few things that commonly break on the latch. Understanding which parts/pieces you may need by way of picture would help us help you. Sometimes failing latch is something as stupid as a piece of plastic that costs less than a buck to replace.

Yes, the part that attaches to the grill. I don't have a picture, as the part is missing. I had body work done after hitting a deer. They threw the old parts away, and said they would get new ones. The part is obsolete, and no longer available.

That's my best thought also. Or find a parts truck on Facebook Marketplace that's also 2000-2002 model year, and pilfer from it.

www.car-part.com can help you find junkyards near you that may have matching years. Doesn't matter if it's a regular cab or access cab model, anything in the 2000-2002 year range will fit.

23 salvage yards checked so far. SOL.
We're traveling to visit family, and that's on the agenda for our route.

eBay is a great parts place for this kind of thing

We do have a marketplace here on the forum, specifically for 1st gens, but I'm not sure if you'll find everything you'll need there.

I did hit up fleaBay to look for used stuff, but it looks like there's a big problem in that people don't know the difference between a grill you use to cook food, and the grille that typically acts as a vent/porthole for a vehicle or appliance.

They do have a lot of hood latches and parts trucks but it sounds like that may not be what you're looking for necessarily.

Just don't buy new parts on fleaBay and scAmazon, you're liable to get fakes or cheap garbage.
