Hello, has anyone had issues with hyper signal "fast flashing signal" I had an intermittent issue this past winter and it cleared up but now it is flashing most of the time. I can see my front left LED blinker will not work when its flashing. I am told the new headlight assembly with blinker is $2400. Thats a long way from the $2 1157 lamp. I did try to purchase a signal flasher to see if that was the problem but was told they are not available. Any suggestions.

    Thank you in advance.

I can wiggle the connector attached to the headlight to get the blinker to work but it is only temporary. I did bring my truck in to have this issue fixed but was quoted over 11K to replace the wiring harness.

Separate the connectors and inspect the pins. It’s possible a pin didn’t get fully seated in the connector. They typically have locking lances that engage the connector housing or other locking device. If it wasn’t assembled properly, it could be pushed back into the connector. Look for one that doesn’t extend out as far as the others.

This. Also there it wouldn’t hurt to spray some contact cleaner like Deoxit that is safe on plastics into the connector, unplug and replug working to work it in…can help with intermittent connections….that is to say if it’s not something with the wiring or wire to one of the connectors. The fact that it’s intermittent at the connector is promising and sounds like you should be able to fix it.

Is there a tool to remove the pings I remember when I worked on outboards the plugs/connectors used ampenol pins and one could use a special tool to remove the pin to inspect the wire connection to the pin.

Thank you, I have used contact cleaner and have visible seen silver/pin in the 3 wires for the blinker on the female connector and reconnected with electrical grease Not Die-electrical grease. I have had the blinker work for maybe 12 times in row, but then it pukes out, I would like to know if the female connector can be rebuilt/ VS a 6K harness plus 4K labor.

Automotive connectors are often of a complex construction that does require special tools to disassemble. Often you can make do with alternatives if you understand how the assembly goes together. I’ve never looked up the Toyota plugs, but if you can determine the manufacturer and get a part number, it shouldn’t be difficult to find instructions. A common document is called an application specification. It details how to properly apply the components, inspection criteria, and necessary tooling. If you can find a connector part number, we can probably determine the manufacturer and go from there.

Is it connecting two harnesses together or does it plug into an assembly? If it is two harnesses, it should be an easy matter to replace both ends with an aftermarket connector.

    Bulldog6. Good Stuff.
I am told the harness runs directly from the male connector of the headlamp to the ECU. I have to assume the end at the ECU is the same connector. One can only purchase the harness as a whole and the connector only comes in the assembly, no separate part number. I also have inspected the connector for ant ID and cannot find any name or number, but I will do a deep dive into automotive connectors to see if i can match one up. Thank you for your input. Wish me luck.

I work for a connector manufacturer. If it’s one of ours I can help.
