Hey guys, had my 21 tundra crewmax for a little under a year now and use it a lot for camping. I tend to have quite a bit of stuff with me and would like to minimize it spilling into my cab. I like to keep stuff dry and secure and have an aluminum tonneau cover but was interested in a camper shell for more space. I use the rear glass for air sometimes and was wondering how a camper shell affects the rear glass when rolled down. Also I was wondering if anyone could recommend cheaper alternatives or knows where to buy used. Was looking at Leer/ARE and black river usa

The topper will not significantly affect airflow when your rear window is down.

You can try to find used but you have to be patient and/or be willing to buy whatever color comes available.

There are no cheap alternatives but I view it as a necessary addition that allows me to use the truck exactly how I need to. If you buy new you can add features like side "windoors" that you might not find on a used one. This feature is absolutely worth it.

    Welcome and good luck.

Thanks, I’ve been looking at the Flatted toppers also since I only really use these for camping.

One solution you could check into depending if you want a permanent topper or if you were looking for a topper that you could literally install or uninstall very easily. The topper is very durable and only weights about 38 pounds. Sounds crazy but it works very well and looks good. You can use it to go camping or just have a cover for hauling stuff. https://www.armordillousa.com/collections/home-page

A local distributor here in my area owes me cash for job I did for him and he was short. So I took one of toppers in exchange. But will probably sell locally as I ordered a top of line Leer for a more permanent solution for me.

ARE on my 2016 has been pretty good. The seals on both Windoors have started leaking a little after 10 years. Even with that i ordered them on my 2025. For outdoorsman type use the windoors are definitely worth the extra money. I should have specified longer roof rack tracks on the new one to get the crossbar closer to the ends.20250711_154834.jpg
