Yeah, Toyota new philosophy is just like they have been Americanized with an LLC mindset.

If you have a legit mechanic
The short block rebuild is a non issue
They basically rebuild the engine from scratch with all new parts
A good mechanic will demand to replace everything that oil touched

I feel like that is the best case scenario, unfortunately not all of us are in the same boat.

The tech doing my short block rebuild expressed great disinterest in "being stuck with having to rebuild" the motor to my face. Not really confidence inspiring

 

Find a different dealership/tech

they can order sub assemblies

If there were a “fix” worth discussing, you’d probably see it here before it pops on YouTube.

 

I've actually watched a few videos of his, and like others said, he's a clickbait rage troll. He's chicken little. The industry been dead and dying in a new way every video he shoots. He takes every little thing and tries to make it into a monster. It's fun at first and you can get yourself worked up. But after a couple videos the outline was clear to me and I don't watch any of these types of guys anymore. There's that guy in the glasses and hat thats sorta nerdy looking whose in the same boat.

Just only so much of that you can watch and still take a person seriously.

 

So what is the fix? Someone must have taken one for the team and watched it. (And no it won't be me)

 

I’m not watching it. Last thing I need is his face showing up in my feed more.

I watched it ... you have to wait for the video and that's if the insider shows up for the interview.

 

Did he have the fix? My guess is no. A title that is misleading so that you will watch to find the info that isn’t even in there is the definition of clickbait.

my actual question is would “ryan” or “not Ryan” entertain an interview with “that guy”? Is it reasonable to expect that guy to get an actual “insider” to do an interview?

This makes me think that anyone on here with a defective engine (or part of the recall) should be trying to push Toyota to step up and offer something similar than accepting the 12M/12K miles. Curious if anyone that has had their engine replaced has pushed back on this and what channels they went through?
