This information may already be here somewhere but I cannot find a direct answer.

I want to add a couple subs to my 2010 tundra platinum with factory nav and jbl system.

Can I just splice into the rear speakers and use a standard line output converter? Does it need to be before or after the stock jbl amp? and what can I use for the remote turn on?

Any help/advice is appreciated as there's not much on YouTube about systems with the factory jbl amp.

If I’m not mistaken doesn’t the JBL system have a factory sub?

(At least in the 14-21 it does)

It does have a factory 8in. But it is blown in this truck I bought. And I was planning on upgrading anyway.

One option would be to repurpose the factory JBL amp to power a bigger sub; or are you looking for a new amp and sub option?

I've already purchased two 10s and a 1200w amp. The amp doesn't have high level inputs so I'm going to have to use a loc. I'm just curious given the speakers are already amplified if I can splice it after the factory speaker amp. Or even if I can use the factory sub plug wires somehow with a standard loc.

Hmmm with the linked LOC you could, I used it on my dad’s Highlander with JBL system after I added a Sony head unit

it’s only rated for 100 watts I think so you would probably have to go from a door speaker, or see how many watts the factory JBL amp produces to each speaker/sub

alternatively you could splice it in from the head unit connector to by pass the factory amp and then run wires to your amp

I’m assuming factory radio? Is it a monoblock amp that you are putting in? If so I believe you can tap into/use the existing wires for the factory subwoofer (after the factory amp) to wire into the LOC which then will connect to the amp. If using a multi channel amp you will want to use the speaker wires as you will need both right and left channels.

As for remote wire, if your new amp does not accept high level inputs that will tell it when to turn on, you will have to wire that into something that provides a 12v circuit with ignition on.

I just recently bought a T harness from taco tunes for my 2015 tundra that plugs directly into factory amp and provides left and right channel speaker wires to connect to LOC and optional remote wire for aftermarket amp plus a 12v power wire to power your LOC. I haven’t hooked it up yet but it will knock a few steps off of the install.

It is factory and the amp is mono. I saw that harness, they dont seem to offer just a harness for the 07 to 13 models with the jbl

Yea I just looked and couldn’t find a direct plug and play from them for your year. In that case I believe you should be able to just use the stock sub wires to the LOC, however, with the stock jbl system I believe it has a low pass filter which can complicate things and that’s where it gets a little tricky and a little out of my realm of knowledge. In the case of a factory low pass filter you’d most likely have to bypass the factory amp so tapping into the sub wires before the factory amp. I believe that will do the trick if the filter is integrated into the factory amp and not the head unit. The other option would be to tap into the rear speaker wires (after amp should be fine) because they have a full range without a low pass filter. Hopefully somebody who knows more than I can add some insight or correct wherever I may be wrong but that is where I would start. I hope that helps some.
