Confirmed. We had this at a place in Telluride. Next day on the trail I had to stop and run into the bushes with a wag bag. And that was my fourth time that am. It was still worth it though.

Close but instead of tzatzicki they use toum and some will use pomegranate molasses. But they generally are similar. Gyros are typically minced lamb whereas shawarma can be chicken, beef or lamb.

You will find a derivative of shawarma throughout the middle east, Lebanon, Turkey, Israel, Egypt, Greece. That's why I like to think of it as Mediterranean.
