If you go with Talons Garage spend the extra $$ and get aluminum. I love the plate, but their powder coat need to improve. I ended up sanding and coating mine in rhino liner.

I have the RCI Aaliminum/powder coated on my 2024. Good quality, easy install.

The aluminum talons garage plate is good. My two issues with it however is the logo is a giant hole, which I would prefer to be covered. Secondly the bolts they use for the oil filter access are tiny hex head bolts that will corrode/rust and prevent removal with a hex tool. I’m going to email them soon and ask for the thread size so I can put proper bolts on

M5 0.8 is the thread. I think they are 25mm long.

Does anyone know if the either talon or RCI skid plates work with the OEM towhook kit?

RCI said it should, haven't heard anything from Talon.

I second this. As well as the main bolts for the plate to frame. The button head is too light weight. A regular bolt (like what is already being used by Toyota) or a standard socket head cap screw is a better option.

The front required some trimming. We have not been able to make any modifications yet to our design to work.

Technically those button heads are stronger then a grade 8 bolt according to our supplier.

Right on. Thanks for the info. Is it just minor trimming?

Sorry OP, not trying to hijack.

The two front corners had to be trimmed off. I can't seem to find the post or PM where I saw it right now. It looked like a 30 second job with a angle grinder and cut off wheel.

IF you are going with raw aluminum the cuts will not be affected any more then the rest of the skid plates.

Do you already have the tow hooks?

I don't question the strength of the bolt, its the tools needed to remove them after they get all corroded. Here is what the bolts look like after two Michigan winters. Which would you rather use to remove a rusted on bolt? The tiny screws on the oil filter cover are even worse. That allen wrench is miniscule for removing rusty hardware. Also if you are looking to make improvements. There is no reason for a 25mm long bolt to hold that cover on. Rule of thumb is 1.5 X the diameter of the bolt is all you need. It just makes removing the rusty bolts that much more annoying at every oil change. With that tiny allen screw head it makes using any power tool risky.

    Gotcha!

I would hate to use a allen key, but I typically use allen sockets. It makes the job better imho.
    https://www.tekton.com/3-8-inch-drive-hex-bit-socket-set-shb91316

We have debated using hex head bolts, but really the Allen bolt is part of our first line of defense. A thief is more likely to have a socket set with them, vs having allen keys/sockets.

I do wonder if fluid film or something else on either the bolts would help against environment you are in? Salt spray is nasty stuff.

Also.... I am trying to remember if a 16mm was just a tad too short for the riv nuts we are using with the thickness of the plates. The 1/4" plates alone are a little over 12mm.

Thanks for the response. I have that same set of hex sockets. I prefer the key to break them loose, just because I have more feel and tend not to round them out. Once broken, I hit them with my power socket wrench. Hopefully now that I have the plates coated with Rhino Liner, I don't have to remove them. I replaced the main bolts with hex. I have to find my cover for the oil filter, its put someplace "safe" and now I can't seem to remember where that safe spot is. I set up my oil change with tubes to drain and a drain valve, so it is pretty slick. Worst part for me is getting my big bear paws up in there to get at the filter.

Thanks for mentioning this. I may also change out to hex hardware. I live in the U.P. so know what you're talking about lol.
