What have you done to your 2.5 gen Tundra today?

Brakes came. If you are thinking about grabbing a pair, I emailed and they offered a 10% discount code. Email response time was very fast for a company and shipped the same day. My truck has 38k just about, and this will be my 3rd set. Replacing the pins on the calipers as well, they seem to be sticking. This current set is a monroe muffler special and they lasted 10k miles and then the monroe near me closed 3 months ago, so much for that lifetime warranty. I do a lot of steep hills just to get anywhere from where I live, and a little bit of towing/full bed of dirt/rock etc... Been trying to use engine braking more recently, but it was too late for this set.

Hopefully these frozen guys last a bit longer. If not I'll have to shell out the serious dough and get a BBK. I am really hoping to not have to do that.

 

Can I get the exact setup you're showing in your photo for my truck and perhaps the discount code? It's time for my truck's 100k "party time" brake update to be complete...

3rd set of Pads and Rotors? JEeze that seems crazy excessive. Here I am on originals still at 86K with just a tiny bit o warp

 

heavier tires than stock, lots of hills, corners and aggressive driving. What can I say. I think the front rotors are probably okay on this set, but I am just going to do it all at once. The OEM's lasted me 26k before they wouldn't stop the truck with the pedal all the way to the floor. I thought I needed to bleed the brakes and that was it, but the front and back were just worn in and the pads basically gone.

 

im lifted w/ upsized tires, do a few thousand mile towing a camper, and usually have a RTT on so I get the extra weight thing. I drive like a granny.

I just put the frozen rotors on the front about 5k miles ago, along with EBC pads and SDHQ stainless lines. I tow a lot with my truck a lot hauling scrap, hay, and pulling a camper. So far, out of all the different brake setups I've had on my truck this one seems to be my favorite. I've run powerstops (Absolute junk, can't recommend away from them enough) Akebono pads with Raybestos R300 rotors and factory.

 

The rotors were a kit and came with Hawk pads. I am really thinking about the stainless lines, but I don't think that's the main issue I am having. The stainless lines are to tighten up pedal feel? Less expansion/more pressure? If I like the new setup, and I feel like I am still missing something I think I would add them.

 

Pedal feel is a nice thing to have, especially when towing! the better rotors and pads will be the most noticed!

After that, it's gets more expensive by a factor of 2.5...BBK Alcons!

 

First attempt at “no water/hose” detailing.
Just used simple green HD (purple) mixed with water. Sprayed, brushed, and wiped by section. Then used meguires trim restore on plastic and rubber care spray on the hoses.

Took her home. '21 trail edition in cement, 23k miles and gold certified used. I had plans to buy a different one. While sipping morning coffee, I ran my daily search on Toy Corp for certified used Tundras and this popped up. I called the dealer and the sales lady said she didn't know what I was talking about, and they def did not have it. I called back right before I left and spoke to the manager who was able to find it. Long day short, I traded the the '23 4runner pro and walked away with a new truck and a nice check.

Deal was $51,500 trade value for the tundra @ $45,990, I negotiated into them adding a new trd pro aluminum skid aswell

Put Bilstien 5100 on rear end. Got the same on front top setting. Truck rides nice, stiff but absolutely no roll in corners,no nose die. Love it.

 

I just got these a couple of months ago.

 

I did notice a firmer pedal after the install. I had my brother throw the whole thing on back in early June before we pulled our 25' camper to Yellowstone from northern CO. I definitely think it helped overall with the towing brake performance.

Had the 2nd fuel pump in the last six months installed.

Back in March, my fuel pump died, Toyota said that they were backordered, so I had an aftermarket one installed. This past Monday, she wouldn't start leaving the gas station. Toyota told me that they were again backordered, but I called the other Toyota dealer in town and they had two. So, hopefully, now that it's an OEM part, it'll be good to go.

IF you're needing a fuel pump, Jim Norton Toyota in Tulsa, OK had one left this afternoon..

If it’s flex it’s not the fuel pump.

 

Original front pads went to 100k miles on my truck, and the rears are still on there. I routinely downshift all the time at red lights and turns.

 

New water pump arrived. Tracking from RCV received so the new axle assemblies should be here soon. I’ll save the other shafts and build spare axles.

New king bypasses for upfront are another 4 weeks out whomp whomp there. Still waiting for my rear suspension updates as well. Hopefully get the custom piston, rods and new deavers ordered here soon.

Yes.. I did this 5 yrs ago with my 2018 TRD sport.
Now I had to redo this for this truck.

2nd time now. I am shocked how long it took to run the wire and get everything connected.

Yes these are Nilight.

 

Gotcha....different truck. Fun is running wiring for a compressor and train horns lol. Audio wiring is time consuming as well.
