Can you turn off “maintenance required” for oil changes?

Dealer said they reset the “maintenance required” dash alert after each oil change….i asked if we can stop resetting it cuz I have no problems remembering when it’s due by reading the windshield sticker they put on w the recommended mileage for the next oil change….guy said it’s a factory setting and can’t remove it….is this true?

 

Just reset it yourself as soon as the first warning pops up, and you won't see it for another 5k

I would have to look to see if the interval can be changed but I don't think that it can be disabled.

My 2025 shows a 10,000 mile interval, where are you guys seeing 5,000?

 

Our 1st, 2nd, and 2.5 gens all recommend 5k intervals, and since this post is a 2.5 gen thread, it makes sense that we'd be talking about 2014-2021s.

I'm not sure what the intervals are on a 3rd gen, so if your 2025 tells you 10k intervals then it's probably why you are seeing 10k

 

I’m guessing he’s talking about the oil change interval, not the maintenance light interval..? I was under the impression that 3rd gets still pop the maintenance light at 5k even if they only do oil changes every 10k.

 

I'm at 4,000 so we will see shortly. I was going to do an oil and filter at 5,000 regardless. Probably use the 25,000 mile free service at Toyota since I really like the service manager there.

Yeah, it takes 30 seconds. Maybe.

 

Not sure about a 2016 but on a 2017 you can change the settings on the headunit. I was just in there hoping I could disable the auto on for recirc. I don't use it.
