We probably have different takes on cold but I get that compared to PHX or Tucson it's a much colder winter.

I spent 4 years in Flag a couple decades ago. It's a wonderful place but it's got its quirks.
The price you pay for living in such a beautiful place -
It's expensive. Rent, homes, land, all of it. Pricey especially when you look at surrounding areas.
It's overcrowded - it's a small town without the roads or infrastructure to handle the population living there. It will take 30 minutes to go 3 miles on the west side / downtown area certain times of day.
There aren't jobs / industry to support the expensive cost of living. This may have gotten a little better since I left with small to mid-sized companies making a home there but when I was there - you essentially worked for the University, hospitality industry, or blue collar type job.
Can't forget the train - main tracks run right through the middle of town - trains come through something like 50 times/day. I hope you like the train bell crossing sound.

Sure, but it's actually cold. And it snows a lot. For reals. Probably more than you think, haha.

Perhaps now that @Breathing Borla has made the move, we can repurpose this thread to explain to all why Prescott and Flagstaff are lousy places to live. They're cold, have no jobs and are overpriced.

Look to the South folks. Nothing to see in the North

I think you are misunderstanding what everyone means by "cold". Flag gets lots of snow. It gets enough snow that ADOT shuts down I-17, which is the main roadway into Northern Arizona, practically every winter. It snows that much. Is it some blizzard infested wasteland?, no. But it's not inconsequential.

It's why I personally would never live in Flag but prefer a place like Prescott that gets moderate amounts of snow. One thing that hasn't been brought up with regards to Flag and the area surrounding it is that the water table is really low. There are areas on that plateau where water gets trucked in due to not being able to sink a well deep enough. It's why you can find plots of land up there for what looks like a bargain up until you realize your water needs to get trucked in.

Do you have little dogs? Because even when you build a wall, that won't stop bobcats and mountain lions.

Nope. They are around. Everywhere. You just won't usually see them. If you setup a trail cam, you'd probably be surprised of what all you'll catch

Haha, no. They USUALLY want nothing to do with us. Seems to be mostly in California where they attack the most people. But still, if you encounter one..........

@Breathing Borla Oh, and don't f$%k with the bee's. Pretty sure no one has warned you about them yet, but they do attack and kill people what seems like every year. So yeah, don't mess with them. Tell your kids!
