    Hello to all,

After deciding not to take "my free/prepaid oil change" and DIY, this was my second oil change.

My 2024 TRD states 7.7 qts. I used exactly that amt, in addition to changing the filter too. 1 five qt jug and 2.7 qts marked on the 2nd jug. Since I change at my ranch, once i pull the oil pan plug & oil filter, I wk on other things for next 45/60 mins. Essentially, what's coming out is out & done.

Here's the question: After changing oil, driving 100 ft to do oil life update, then i Ck the dipstick, it was nowhere near the "FULL" lines, or considerably below the left threshold line. I'll take a pic after she's been sitting overnight and post it, but what's going on? No dripping or residue either, as of yesterday Aftn / thank you

note, i did push in the dip stick as far as it would go..

Where is the oil line on the dipstick in relation to the high and low marks?

Run the truck for 30 seconds, turn it off and pull the stick, wipe clean, insert again and show us the level

You may still have a lot of oil at top of engine running down. Might have to wait a little while to let it run back down to get a true reading.

It sounds like everything was done appropriately, especially the drainage, but I don’t think you ran it long enough for an accurate reading.

When I put 7.7 quarts in after an oil change, the level is not at the full line, but it's normally more than halfway up on the stick. I consider this normal. If I check the oil level when the engine is at operating temperature, the oil level will have increased due to expansion, and the reading will be much closer to the full mark.

As others have mentioned, I also run the engine for 3 to 5 minutes after the oil change and then let it sit for 10 minutes or so while I work on something else before checking the level.
