So I just got my bed rhino lined today, and it all looked good up until I realized they didn't remove the bed bolts. I thought, not a big deal, I don't ever plan on removing the 4 bolts by the door. But I had to remove the two bolts at the end of the bed, next to the window, as I have traction plates + gas can holder mount to re-attach there. But even that I didn't care much and could overlook it as I was able to still unscrew the bolt.

But what is bothering me is that after removing the bolt, I found dust underneath.. I'm not sure where the dust was from exactly, maybe from the washer of the bolt.. but now i'm starting to think that they didn't prep it right/clean it thoroughly before applying the lining...

Has anyone here experienced this before, should I just wait to see if the lining peels off/bubbles and claim warranty? Should I call the shop? Or maybe i'm just overthinking it and the dust was just debris under the washer that got stuck? Gah, it just irks me because it was so expensive and if they didn't do it the proper way then what was I paying almost $700 for?

It's just debris from under the washer as you mentioned. With the amount of work needed to apply a bed liner, a shop won't shortcut it to potentially have to strip and do it again.

It is quite common for Rhino/Linex/etc bedliner folks to just clean and spray - no bolt removal/etc. I would not sweat what you are seeing - even if the prep was half assed - you are more likely to see issues in other areas (rust/corrosion) than just the bed.

Dust or build up can happen from just install that pulls metal flakes off the paint when being screwed down. I honestly wouldn’t worry about it.

I had mine line-x'd. Same shit you described, they painted over the bed bolts and bed hooks after I asked them to remove them.

Additionally, it snowed the night after it was sprayed and they parked it outside.

They oversprayed by the cab and made a mess that I couldn't really reach to clean up.

Luckily, the bed liner material has been more robust than their commitment to laziness and lack of attention to detail. It's held up really well.

I had it done on a Friday and I'm sure everyone was in a hurry. That's my fault, I guess. Hell, maybe I'm the one who is wrong and I'm just a bad customer in this case.

You'll probably be fine. Like I said, it's holding up great.

I had a Nissan Frontier rhino lined and didn't experience a single problem with it. They prepped it by washing out the bed and then applying a commercial cleaner. Washing that out and then they spray the bed when it's completely dry. That's what they told me anyway as I asked what the prepp was.

Had mine Rhino lined and they sprayed everything. No issues so far.

Regarding warranty, I put a gash in mine on the tailgate closing it. Thought I had the clearance and I didn't. Rolled in, they looked at it and did the spot fix (it was a gash probably about an inch long). Warranty there covered for me. Rolled out without an issue.

So far, I am happy with Rhino.
