Power steering fluid. WS ATF?

    Im at 70k on my ‘21 and was gonna change my PSF. Can the WS ATF be used? Ive seen where theres an ATF/PSF bottle that comes up when i search the dealer site. Is it best to stick to that over the WS?

    Toyota specifies a fluid compatible with Dexron III specification, which is closer to ATF Type IV than ATF WS. WS is closer Dexron VI in viscosity.

    There are about half a dozen or so revisions to the Dexron III specification complicating the matter a little more.

    I don’t know why Toyota uses a Dexron III type fluid for power steering instead of WS. GM eventually went with Dexron VI for power steering fluid. My guess would be something in the additive package, or it’s not viscous enough.
