My wheels are losing their powder coating in a big way. New rims are likely out of our price range.

A local shop sandblasts then re-powder coats wheels. I will have to check on price and make sure they still do this as it's been a few years since I've asked.

What do you guys think? Anyone done this?

I was just going to go as original as possible as to color but I'm open to suggestions.

Sand blasting is standard before powder coating and they should have multiple books of different color options to choose from. I've had motorcycle wheels done with a two coat with a translucent color over a highly reflective silver, looks like metal flake in the sun . If you're just trying to keep the cost down, black or similar to stock should be pretty cheap and easy. Which wheels do you have?

I'm pretty sure my wheels are what came on it.

You can always clean them up and paint them yourself for a real budget job. I’ve done that a couple times (with tires mounted) and had it turn out well. Good prep and masking. They even held up well when I had new tires mounted.

    Imma keep it stock

Clean and sand. 550 grit to start finishing with 1500. Then several light coats of your favorite quality rattle can.
