Tundra engine recall - interesting news

Hearing there is a gasket shortage again. Unsure which one.

 

Meanwhile lead of the service department told me he had engines upstairs if mine was a recall....

 

LOL... I liked your post on this but I DON'T like the schedule, as I am also in Phase 7 which is still TBD. We have more road trips to do this year, so back to rolling the damn dice.

 

From my understanding the recall trucks shouldn't need the gasket set as the engine comes pre-assembled

 

The better question is, what poor first year mechanic is tasked with carrying engines up and down stairs

Gravity does the down. They drop them down the stairs and shove it in the engine bay

Not like it's their truck

 

The percussive transport method is good for break in. Really jiggles the rings into place

 

Final QC stage to knock the last bit of machining debris out

 

They would need them at TMMAL for assembly, so we could assume that that takes precedent.

 

They do drop the oil pan after dropping the engine in to remove the last bits of swarf from the engine.
