Finally installed my Stillen CAI. Thanks to @TacomaTRD4x402 for the plexi lid and info. Installing the box bolts and TRD airflow accelerator was a b****. I only ended up using the rear bolt. The front hole wasn’t even close to lined up in my truck. But looks good.
Also did the first wash of the summer :anonymous: and retro TRD vinyl on the grill.

Thanks for the details! By Jim, do you mean the Genuine Cooling Systems package, or is there another I am unaware of?

I monitored my transmission temps for the first time yesterday, I bought an Xtool A30M for my upcoming drain and fill.

I was pulling my boat with the fam and a light load in the truck, certainly no more than 1500lbs for the boat & trailer combined (old aluminum 14' Jon) and no more than 700 total pounds in the truck.

It was 85° out and I was seeing high 220s most of the trip, saw some 230s, and a spike of 251. I was going 79 (speed limit is 75 in mid MI), had tow/haul mode on, but let the truck do its thing. I didn't feel like the lite boat and low payload of the truck called for me to be using s4.

This obviously concerns me a bit and makes me think I need to explore a cooler. When I take the same trip next week, I will pry slow down to low 70s and see what type of difference that makes temperature wise

    Too many, but not enough....
Installed the raingler attic net and its awesome. So much extra storage and it does not obstruct the rear view mirror. Really impressed.

Light bar looking good! My bumper shims prevent it. Have to figure something out. Or just get a new bumper haha. What paint did you use on the lid? Wanting to do the Stillen tube and my engine cover letters.

AutoZone sells touch-up pens that have a brush along with the pen applicator in Toyota factory colors.Make sure to clean the surface with an alcohol rub and scuff it so the paint will adhere. What fasteners did you use on your lid?

S4 is your friend while towing... It allows the TQ to lock up in 4th (which it won't do in drive) and this keeps your trans temps a bit cooler as it's a 1:1 ratio. The engine will work a little harder, but it won't be shifting so much and bouncing up and down in gears especially on grades

This video is dry AF in terms of delivery, but if you can sit through it, it will give you an idea of what's happening with the gears, clutching, and other operations of our transmissions and the they work through the various gears. It will also demonstrate why S4 allows for significantly cooler operation, especially while under load...

Wait until morning, drain the pan, measure how much came out, put that much back in, plus a slight smidge for what stayed in the original pan before you measure it.

I use Kool-Aid pitchers that have markings on them.

Did this on my GX for years & 200k plus miles and never had any issues.

I've towed our boat (~5,500lbs) through mid-MI and upper-MI several times, slowing to 70 will only help to save on gas. As stated above, S4 is your friend while towing.

I put together a cooler kit with OEM parts, Setrab cooler and a bracket another member designed and supplied the file for, just have to find time to install it

It's been a dusty week for the truck. Two separate hay hauls, this one being the smaller of the two but damn, I am NOT 18 anymore...500 bales over two days has reminded me of parts of my body I forgot existed.

I'll tell you though, being classically trained in OG Tetris on the original NES has never paid off more...:amen:

It was absurd. Even if I didn’t use the TRD accelerator, the front one wouldn’t line up. Also, the actual hole in my truck for the front bolt was super shallow and the screw would turn maybe once or twice before bottoming out. Idk if my truck was messed up? I’m interested in what you come up with.

I started to sweat just looking at that picture.... brings back some not so fun memories!

Dad = "What are you doing next weekend? Its Father's Day and I'd like for you to come home"
Me = "No problem, Dad, I will see you next weekend"
Dad = "GREAT! We are putting up hay!"

Had a similar pattern w my Dad, but it was usually to go wood cutting and stack the wood...and split the wood...and bring a bunch up to the house.

Watch that front passenger side mat. The one in our Sequoia would always come loose from the floor and shift around too much. Now it hardly has form fit capability so I removed all of them and went with Husky. MUCH better, imo.

That's pretty close to what he said in a text Sunday night at around 10:30.

    Dad-"You working tomorrow?"

Me-"No, I've got the kids, Emily is working, why?"

D-"Bring them down, your mom would love to see them."

    M-"ok, that'll be fun."

D-"She can watch them while I bale, I've got 45 that need delivered. Think you can handle that?"
