Yep! Which of the two options do you think adds the least restriction to airflow? A fixed rain guard in the engine bay or a prefilter fixed to the hood below the vent?

 

For you the lesser would be the pre-filter as it will have more surface area. The solid guard will limited to the airflow on the open side for water release. In winter it won't be concern compared to the southerners/islanders.

 

I used to run that prefilter material works well. I’d be curious to see how it holds up over time.

 

Today at 10:30 "it's 99% done," we need O rings or gaskets.

Meanwhile, no battery. SAD

Yup, that is my point. When they are ready to test it, they need to connect the battery.

In my experience, .01% doesn't take over 7 hours.

Not even up to starting it.

 

As long as they do it "right," should be the main concern...and potentially even appreciated...silver linings, right?!

 

Of course, I want it done right. The job was quoted at a week & Wednesday is a month.

They have missed 3 self-set deadlines & I have never said anything but ok.

I'm feeling like I'm in a hostage situation where I have Stockholm Syndrome.

I have to keep my captor happy.

 

Ugh, I hadn't realized it's already been a month! Knowing that now makes me concerned! You may need to wait into their lobby/office than! I'm sorry this has been such a shit ordeal! Yowza!

 

If the last 10% of the job takes 90% of the effort, they still had 9% of the job left to do at 10:30 this AM.

9% of a 40 hour job is 3.6 hours. Take an hour lunch, a half hour break, a 73 minute siesta, 2 hours to do paperwork, an hour to wash it, another 64 minutes for second breakfast and early supper… Add that to 10:30 and your truck should be done, at 7:18. Or 07/18. Wait, that can’t be right… that’s Friday …




Seriously, though, that sucks. I hate waiting. I hate going to places like DisneyLand and trendy restaurants because you have to wait in line. You have some mad patience.

 

My main peeve here is the lack of communication. Also, no way they wash it.

The rest, I'd say you are being kind & I'd be lucky to get it Friday, only problem with that, the Wife has to have the fucking expander they put in 2 weeks ago removed again on Friday because it's infected again.

We can't get a break.

 

I look forward the updates on the other side of this fiasco where you're back to enjoying it. Things will settle down. Stay resilient. Though, the "need gaskets or.o-rings" part is a bit odd. For which components? From where? Did they lose them or did they not know they needed them? It's just a bit odd. It'll all be worth it in the end.

 

If it helps any i have a 2 year old car that has been in the shop for 13 MONTHS for a warranty repair. I have stopped myself from cussing them many times because I need them to prioritize my repair and get it done. So a month is nothing.

 

Have a four wheeler in the shop for 22mo and counting. My youngest is going to be too big for it by the time it gets out.

 

I feel for you, man.

Funny story about the car wash (and for why that was a sarcastic item on my list..) - when my ‘13 was new I had an extended service agreement for a while so it was serviced at the dealership for two or three years. I would drop it off before the appointment and have them shuttle me back to my house or shop while I waited. They always said ‘about an hour’ for an oil change, tire rotation, and look-see.

One hour would go by - as expected.

Two hours would go by - no biggie.

Three hours would go by - man, they must be busy.

Four hours would go by - did they break something? I’m getting worried when for if I DO get a call.

Five hours would go by - what in the world is taking so long?? It’s an oil change for gripes sake!

Six hours would go by - maybe I should call. Or am I being impatient..? I’m sure the service writer is gonna blacklist me if I call and complain.

Seven hours would go by and FINALLY I would call them.

“Oh, ya, it’s been ready for a little while. We’re just waiting for a wash before we send you down the road.’

Every time. And I mean EVVVVVEEERRRYYYY TIME.

So I ask them to put a note on my account to skip the car wash. But by that time, I started changing the oil in it myself.

Fast forward to this year and I purchased a Gold Certified ‘21 from the same dealership, so it comes with some free oil changes.

I drop the truck off, wait all day, finally call them to see it’s convenient for me to pick it up, and..

“Oh, ya, it’s been ready for a while. We’re just waiting for a car wa… oh. I see you have a note on file to skip the car wash. Umm. It will be ready in 45 minutes..’

 

That and several other odd excuses? not sure that is the word have me concerned. Unfortunately, it's like jumping into the ocean, once you are in you are in & you can't dictate what happens until you are out.

I just have to hope they at least do a good job & I'm done with this shit when I get it back,

 

Not tundra blower related but I know many were curious on the initial review of the 7.3 f-350. The rents hauled the trailer out to the hanger in Tennessee and said the truck did great.

The things a beast and the 10 speed transmission is like butter. Cool feature is you can limit the gears it uses so for example if you want it to only use 3-8 you can select that grouping. At 65mph it averaged 8mpg at 60mph it’s averaging about 9.8mpg. Leaving AZ outside temps 110+ thing didn’t care at all. Pretty trick rig he’s pumped.

You end up with BC pistons? 9.5:1? These are the Manley 10.0:1.

Fwiw, I just had the discussion about ring gap and it is getting set for max per Manley specs (30psi). They said it was a 1,000+ HP build with the upgraded valves and springs, and they didn't balk at me taking about the turbo being a 1200HP turbo, so I think we're good. Especially knowing it was handling @Fastlane47 20-25psi without issue, even though he only had the 1900. Pretty pumped to not have to worry about motor issues going forward.

Now it's all eyes and monitoring on the transmission.

Most likely will be doing the BC custom pistons yea. Block and heads will get checked here soon then I'll order rods and pistons, then go down the parts lists of things.

 

New 1.88" pulley might make that day come faster

You, specifically, played into my ring gap decision. I told XAT I'd be pissed if I find that I capped myself at only 7-8psi more than a stock block (there was a 22-23psi option).
