    Been heck of weekend.
If I ever have vehicle in shop again I’ll be marking things before, and really checking after.

Haven’t liked it because want to get ball joint on tundra, (just got bolts Friday) but Wife been driving it while waiting on what I thought was all parts I wanted to put on 4 Runner, (Radiator, hoses, and water pump) and last night heard a pop on front of tundra pulling into driveway so it’s parked until have time to change LBJ, and had to get 4 runner done.

Finished rounding up last of what i needed this morning for 4 runner.

Thought water pump, idler pulleys etc had already been replaced on 4Runner 1.5 years ago when I had it put in shop, and specified I wanted water pump replaced, and anything, everything that might need based on mileage.
Didn’t check, or even look after we got it back. Didn’t order idler pulleys based on assumption they were replaced, and it needed them bad!
Did order water pump just for good measure, glad I did because They never changed it.

Half the weekend driving rounding up enough idler pulleys, and a tensioner of decent brand.
Finally finished it up around 10pm.

Road trip!!! Taking the FGT to OkC today for work. Haven’t had some quality windshield time with the ol girl in a while. I’m one of those sickos who likes to drive for hours. It’s chill time for me. Even better in this truck. Also running the Tundra express on this trip. Wheels incoming @bmf4069 !!

I think one of the problems with kids today is they are given everything.
My first car my grandpa found. He knew how much money I had saved and it was within the price.
It was a wrecked ford pinto. I could either buy it and he would help me fix it, or keep riding my bike for another year or 2 to get something else.

Having potential to have wheels motivated me. Even if it was a ford pinto.
We took the whole front clip off, hammered it out and bondo what needed.
Then when timing belt broke year later, and I burned out the clutch being stupid he supervised me replacing them. He helped, but I had to do most of the work.

He didn’t force me to learn. He motivated me with what he knew I needed, and wanted…wheels/a vehicle.

I had a coworker in Albuquerque who had one of these (non supercharged) that he lifted with 33's. Loved that truck. Then he got married and had a kid and had to sell it.

It was an easy horn to play the french horn is mainly background noise, but as a 90lb kid in jr.high, lugging 30lbs of horn & case a few times a week on the schoolbus sucked something awful.

Dumb question, do these fans care which way they spin? Would be cool on a 3-way switch that would blow in or out.
    IMG_1300.jpg

I need to find somewhere to mount this, and i want it to run off a permanent stick-on solar panel. I’m still not keen on cutting a hole in my cap, so i might make a filler panel that’ll clip into one of the side windows.

Usually that style of DC fan has arrows on the side of the plastic shell to indicate the direction of airflow.

Which direction you want it to flow will depend on whether you need to exhaust or intake. If it's a single fan, exhaust would be my preference, with some vents of equal volume passage on the far side of the fan, to create the ventilation channel. If you've got a fan on opposite sides, I like to have the exhaust near the top of the enclosure, and intake near the bottom to create a good cross-ventilation channel, and you need to have one setup to intake, and other setup to exhaust directionally.

On some of those fans, reversing the flow is as simple as reversing the polarity of the line. That could be achieved with a 3-position switch, potentially.

1/4" hardware cloth sandwiched over window screen material, with that fan mounted in the hardware cloth. That could work.

Last night I finally pressure washed my seatbelts. Weren't fully dry this morning but they are already retracting faster. Tomorrow will hit with silicone spray, something I'd done before but I'd never washed them. I highly recommend power washing your belts if you have a slow retractor. Mine were pretty clean but since we had everything out from washing the not-at-all-clean belts in my oldest's 2002 4Runner that was smoked in a few owners back, I went ahead and did the 1GT's too. Unlike her truck, which you could see were dirty, you couldn't see anything nasty or grimy on the 1GT at all; even so, once I started with the pressure washer I could definitely see where I'd cleaned and hadn't, and brown water coming off it.

Take you 2 clamps to the car wash. Pull the driver and passenger side out, clamp them "open," close doors and you should be able to knock both out with just water and one set of quarters. Based on recent pics you are overdue for a hosin' down anyway!

Mine were filthy so I think I used some simple green or laundry detergent to soak them before spraying them. Made a huge difference.

On a side note, for anyone in the future, the seatbelt light is activated by closing the circuit. Disconnecting the seatbelt harness opens the circuit and the light will not illuminate.

Thinking about ditching my current LT tires for some standards. Currently running Copper Discoverer AT3 LTs in one size above stock, but they're starting to show their age and I'll probably replace them this fall.. I haven't had that much weight in the back since the last time I made the mistake of agreeing to help a friend get 3 loads of river rock for his backyard. I'd say at most at this point I'd have a sports bike or a couple dirt bikes back there and some camping gear. Maybe half a ton at most. Hoping some standard load tires might also improve mileage slightly on road trips. Previous owners used it for hauling their trailer around the PNW, after owning it for a year and a half, the LTs just feel like overkill to me now. Thoughts?
