When I got rid of cable, I got an OTA antenna, Roku stick and Tablo whole house DVR. The Tablo is two channel so we can watch something different of both TVs, but we never do. We also have Amazon prime, but we had that way before it was a television network. Not counting prime, I think the whole thing was under $300.

I do get Sunday ticket from YouTube to watch out of market NFL games. That's 3-400 a year. For the paid streaming games I use the Dofu app on my phone and cast it to my TV.

This is exactly why I don't pay for sirius/xm. I want like 3-4 channels. I'm not paying their absurd prices for it. Especially because they say they are "ad free" but ever other song you get an ad for more sirius or XM stuff. If they dumped the commentary of most of the DJs and just had they tell you who was playing what song, that would be great. I don't want to hear the DJs weekend plans. Their not my buddy or my bro. I just want the music.

The thing with SXM is that they will give you cheap monthly rates, but you have to call and threaten to cancel. It's really annoying, but they always give you a better deal. The last time I called, I was paying $33 a month, and I got an email saying they were bumping the rate to $70 something. I called and said no way in hell, cancel my sub, and they gave me a rate of $24 for the next 6 months. That's for 3 subscriptions.

I spend a lot of seat time in my work truck, so I would hate to get rid of it, but no way I'd pay what they were asking.

I actually didn't have a tv for 10 years. We got one again when the girls were little with Netflix only. We switch it up every 6 months or so between Netflix and paramount or some other streaming services that is less than $20 a month. Plus internet we can keep our streaming bills under $80 a month.

I was going to work on canceling my Cox, $289 for cable, internet, and an old land line I don't use but had a bunch of shit pop up, so maybe this week. My problem is that other than cable, the only other internet provider is cell, which I'm not going to do. My plan is Star link and maybe YouTube TV.

I haven't had cable since 2021 when I lived in Arizona. I find myself mostly watching nature, history and science documentaries of which the best stuff is available for free on the internet. There are maybe 1 or 2 movies I want to see each year and I just buy the blu-ray for them when they are available, such as the two Dune films.

I have pretty much lost almost all interest in anything coming out of Hollywood, the major networks or streaming services. They have just become too formulaic and uninteresting to me. Constant remakes or recycling of the same overused tropes. Just feels like low effort slop entertainment.

Oh boy, yet another marvel, spiderman, superman, batman, bizarre disney movie

Um... my wife pays $5/mo. for it. She calls every year, but damn - $70?

I like Spotify. No DJs, just music. And podcasts. And audiobooks. For $9/mo.

We have Comcast internet and are paying $79.00/mo. I used to call them and threaten to cancel once a year, but things have settled down since the city has fiber installed everywhere, so there’s finally some competition.

Our budget is a shitshow after that, we have a lot of the streaming services. But we do the attic antenna and that’s been a great investment.

My boy asked me to hand him his sunglasses...

I told him I'd do it as soon as he hands me my dadglasses.

Whatever this forum told me to do
    Cable:

We use Xfinity for internet...had it since time began. pay ~$90/mth

    we use Fire Sticks.

Direct TV Stream is the most used app.

    Netflix is 2nd

    I rarely watch TV.
If I do, I use Pluto TV to watch old movies.

If cable fails, we use an amplified antenna. it will get the local channels.

My use is mainly in the garage.
    Pandora in background
    Radar Now app is foreground
