Eibach Stage 1 (lowest setting) looks higher than OE?

So, Just got the Eibach stage 1 installed for the front and I noticed a couple of things.

    1. The front looks/feels a lot taller than the OE setup. But it's set to the lowest setting on the ring so it should be 0" difference. I wanted to keep it close to OE. I actually like the lower front stance of truck. sigh. Is this normal? I did not do any scientific measuring since I did not do a "before" so I can't do an after. But looking at the photos I can see more gap space between wheel well. It looks like it's at least an inch or so more. The photo is adjusted so both tires are leveled at similiar angles.

    2. I just did my front brake pads and while lifting it at the front jack point (on the TRD skid plate mark C), I couldn't get the wheels off the floor!! It barely got off before my HF jack maxed out. So I had to jack up the individual sides to do the brake job. Is this because there's more travel on the Eibach compared to the OE?

    A couple of things…

Measure your front fender height through the center of the wheel. From the hub center to fender is best, but from the ground to fender is valid and how I usually do it, though you need to account for tire size of other than stock.

New gas pressurized shocks will add a small amount of lift height compared to old worn shocks. The gas charge acting on the piston provides about 1/4” of lift. But it will settle down after a few miles.

Have you cycled the front suspension since install? Speed bumps, some rollers, bumps in the road? It will settle a bit after a couple of miles.

Did you torque everything down before setting the weight of the vehicle on the tires? Bushings can bind up a little. Best practice is to set the vehicle on the wheels, then tighten up the lower shock bolt, sway bar bolt, and top hat bolts.

But, like I mentioned, that small amount of lift will most likely settle out after driving it for a bit.

I didn't install I had a suspension shop put it in. I didn't feel like doing the work but I will be doing the rears myself.

I just noticed that it was much higher after I lifted the truck to do the brakes after putting it down. Maybe I'll go ride it over bumps or something and see if it comes down a little bit.

    Thanks for the info

Gotcha. The Eibachs do have some additional downtravel, IIRC. Grab a tape measurement at the front fender with the truck on level ground. If you are on stock tires it should be around 36.5”. Run it down a bumpy road and see if it settles.

I helped a neighbor kid install 6112’s on his truck last night. It settled over 1/2” just blasting it around a gravel parking lot and down the the road a few miles.

    Interesting..

You sure they installed them at the lowest setting? I believe Eibach ships them set up for around 2” of lift and you have to move the circlip down. Also, it’s not uncommon to have the spring collar installed upside down on accident…

Are you able to snap a pic of the shock body itself as installed? I know that means lifting the vehicle again and pulling a tire off.

The bright side is - it looks great! But I’m in the same boat as you wanting a more stock height truck.

Something else I just remembered - did you order the Stage 1 lift kit that included new coil springs? As seen here..

Or did you get the pro truck sport shocks for the front? As seen here..

They both use the exact same front shock, but the Stage 1 kit comes with a longer set of coils to achieve lift instead of moving the coil up via the spring perch circlips. If you purchased the former, the new coil springs will absolutely give you that 2” lift at the bottom setting.

I measure both. Looks like the driver side is 1 in higher than the passenger side. Maybe they messed up. I also noticed they put the sleeves that covered the back on the fronts. That's no good! Wasted 3 hours of my time. Now I'm going to have to go back.

Yes, I ordered brand new set direct from eibach. I did it with the July sale cost me nearly 700 bucks. It comes complete except the top hat. It comes complete except the top hat

I left them with the box as is. When I looked at it it seemed like the rain was on the very last bottom part of the Ring and I told him I didn't want anything higher than stock height. He did look at me and said I was an oddity but that's fine.

I'll call them back Monday. Figure this out.

Ahh. I see. You purchased the lift kit in the first link above with new coils that are set at 2”. If you were to reuse the factory coil springs it would be set at factory ride height.

I thought that you couldn't reuse the OE springs?

But I think they messed up the right to the left side. They should be even. Maybe they did the passenger to the driver and driver to the passenger side. I read there's a height difference in the spring for the driver side due to the gas tank and that accounts for it.

There is often a drivers side lean of 1/4 to 1/2” due to gas tank, brakes, battery all being on the drivers side. Factory springs are side specific to account for this. I don’t know if Eibachs do; I know that Bilstein 6112’s come with new springs that are not side specific and do not account for the lean. I used a single 1/4” shim to level it out side to side. The shim sits atop the spring assembly between the coil bug and top hat to push the assembly down 1/4” or so.

That's great info. Too bad I didn't know that You can shim it. There's no information on that anywhere. I do not know if eibach accounts for the lean too. But the left is 1/2 inch higher. 39" vs 38.5" driver side.
