I am new to forum and may not pose this question correctly.
I have a 2021 Tundra 2WD with a transmission that has failed. My warranty is still in place but I am being told that no transmissions are available due to a nationwide shortage. Can anyone comment/confirm that is the case?

    Thanks for any information.

As a 2021 owner I am curious as to what happened and how if failed?

Pretty rare for a tundra, I would love to know also. I have a 2007 and had to replace the shift solenoid at 175,000 miles.

Transmission hasn't been removed since we can't locate a replacement. I suspect towing a heavy trailer this past weekend and temperatures got to high.

More Details please. Share your experience so you can help others.
    Thanks

Couldn't you just have someone rebuild?

No indication during towing. The next day driving down the road check engine light came on indicating a shift solenoid issue. Called the local Toyota dealership and they said I could drive it to them, didn't make it.
Being told parts are also unavailable for a rebuild.
Never understood why Toyota stopped putting the thermostat/cooler on this truck. Only the warming puck and calling it a cooler.

    Thanks for the info.
Some have had luck replacing the solenoid only but I doubt that the warranty will do that.
Did they give you an idea on the time it would take to get a Trans in or is there not an ETA?

Good news is that it’s still under warranty. Did they give you a loaner?

    Will not give an ETA.
Still in shock about availability and haven't asked for a loaner.

Sorry to hear about the failure. Let’s hear about how this incident may have contributed to the failure. How heavy was the trailer? What gear were you towing in? Mostly flat? Lots of prolonged uphills?

I would definitely ask for a loaner. Your 21 is under warranty and Toyota doesn't have parts (which blows my mind).

Same thing happened to my Tundra when the front differential needed to be replaced. One dealership said it would be weeks and the other dealership in my city had one the next day after they express shipped it from 3 states away.

    That warning never came up.

Just spoke to another dealership about a 100 miles away. They explained the situation a little better. According them Toyota is no longer building the AB60E/F new. They are relying on cores and doing a reman. This dealership said they had six customers in this situation. They checked the warehouse they pull from and saw where 138 transmissions on backorder with three going out the door today.

IPT has them. Doubt they’ll let you grab one of those with your warranty coverage though.
