Hey everyone, I have a 2008 Toyota Sequoia(essentially a 5.7L Tundra) with about 147k miles and I just got a trouble code P2446 last night. The engine is still running just fine, so it does not seem to be in limp mode and no noticeable driving issues.

This seems to be a common part to go out, but I am not one to just replace automatically, so is there anything besides a bad valve that could cause the trouble code, and anything else that I can check first?

Also, I assume/hope that even if the valve set needs to be replaced, then I can possibly avoid replacing the air pumps as well, but I wanted to get your input on that as well.

    Thanks!

Sorry I am not any help because I havent had air pump issues yet. The only thing I can tell you is I have seen people install air pump bypass kits through the years of watching forums.

My 07 did that several years ago. I am one of the bypass kits that @bicklebok is probably talking about. I wasted no time putting it in though because the truck went from just throwing code to throwing code and limp mode in a matter of a week or so. Super simple to do, a matter of 4 electrical plugs is all it is. Some electronics guy making them out of his basement, I'm sure. But for about 100 bucks back then, I thought it was worth a go. Truck just broke 320K miles and still going strong. Kit has been on for at least the last 100K of them.
