I have a 2022 Capstone and it developed a rattle on passenger side coming from the moon roof area. If I open moon roof, it goes away. Live in Texas and if it sits in the hot Texas sun it will go away, but at night, cloudy days, cool days and coming out of garage in the morning it rattles. Started at about 22,000 miles. Have taken it to two different dealers four total times. Have been told it's a design flaw and no solution. Told me it's a common problem. Called the Toyota Hotline number and they told me there's nothing reported the moon roof as a problem and I should take to another dealer (which I'll have to pay for now).

Question is, anyone else having a rattle in the moon roof or in that area? Any reccomendations? Any known solutions? The last dealer said they would not charge me for any labor if had to try again to fix. They did make some adjustments which didn't resolve and said would just have to live with it or trade it in.

    Appreciate any help!

Also have a Capstone and the headliner rattles a bit. I put a piece of weatherstripping in between the headliner and roof and it solved the issue. I also have the door rattle. Seems the front doors aren't set where they sit close enough to get the weather stripping to seal good.

Thanks for the replies. I'll share with the dealer. I'm just wondering if it's the headliner why the rattle goes away when the moon roof is open.

I've found the rattle is the glue that was used to hold the liner to the roof. Seems like it did adhese properly and it is just loose. I cut a piece of weather stripping and just tucked it in between the liner and roof on both sides and haven't heard it again. Now if they can figure out my rattle from both front doors. The doors don't sit close enough to the frame and the weather stripping does not seat tightly against the door frame.

I have had this issue before. Dealer replaced the moonroof motor under warranty. The service manager and a technician needed to go on a test drive to replicate the rattle and the rest was history.

Could you share some pictures of the weathering stripping installed for the headliner? I feel like I have a decent idea of where the noise is coming from but need some pointers for my sanity. Thanks,
